Re: The box keeps disconnecting to the wifi so can’t use search or any apps.I keep resetting

I have the same issue with Q box consistently disconnecting from WiFi (not Sky). WiFi is roc solid and no issues with any other devices. Sky doesn't have a resolution for this but I continue to pay £144 a month. I'm an idiot.

Anyone have any magic formulas or do you need to move from Sky?

Well for months mine disconnected every day band steering it prefers the lesser band kgz thing its too strong on the higher frequency all too weird but im with BT and since ive had to go digital lol and ordered to give up my WiFi hub 6 and replace it with the hub 2 its never not stayed connected so its the frequency waves that's causing the issue....if u do some research about band steering WiFi hubs and sky you'll find its vvvvv common ! Good luck...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

It's GHz (GigaHertz = billions of cycles /waves per second)

and yes SkyQ doesn't support the 5GHz bands with 3rd party routers, only 2.4Ghz. For no reason anyone has ever explained.

Which might well be one reason that Q loses connection if it gets steered to 5GHz. I tried turning off band steering for the Q box though (on my wifi mesh) and it didn't solve my problems. But still a good suggestion.

I have the basic Sky Essentials package and the supplied router model SR213-02-UK. Most of my home is CAT45 network cabled wired via a Netgear 48way switch. Never experienced any problems with any ISP until I switched to SKY.

I found the WiFi signal is very low and i've resorted to using WiFi access points to extend the Internet to poor spots in my home and garden. They work but suffer from frequent WiFi disconnects! Very frustrating. This happens on 2.4 & 5ghz. My usual remedy is to turn off WiFi on my device and switch back on to discover WiFi signals again. I never had the problem prior to Sky. Unfortunately I have another 13months on my contract and can't wait to dump Sky.
