Had this problem for a very long time ! But after 4 engineers the 5th one who knew what he was doing finally sorted by adding a booster and changing boxes !

It's band steering sky q box prefers 2.5 ghz or whatever its called if its a dual band router with 5 ghz as well it gets knocked out best I can describe it...so many have this problem me too...drives u crazy...maybe a router wuth 2.5 ghz bt hub 2 has this but its slower for live streaming! I never use that anyway...my bt hub is smart hub 6 dual band so its at it frequently no signal...having said that since moaning on here mine has stayed connected since Xmas!!!!!!!!! No idea why...unless sky have done something as they read here!!!! Nothing is private...or get a Etherley cable from router to sky box ...I presume that yellow cable! I can't as its upstairs ridiculous cables all over the place but it may suit you? I pay 68 for sports mainly but unfortunately come June I'm ending it too so I'll miss my footy etc...its also the cost I can no longer afford it...Good luck...

It's 2.4
Ethernet cables have no mandated ISO colour. You can get one in unicorn pink if you like.

Mine was fine on BT but as soon as I switched to EE it disconnects from the WiFi on a daily basis. I have to reset it every time.

Mine use to all the time drive u nuts with password input !!!!!! It's to do with band steering...one band knocks out the other tbh I gave up on it and live with it.

Well what band steering might do is encourage a Q box, which can only use 2.4GHz on 3rd party wifi, to try to use 5GHz instead (that's what it's designed for) but the Q should ignore that, surely?
I think if you have different SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 then it will effectively stop it from trying. Not so great for other devices though, particularly handheld that move around.
also, the fact this thread has been titled "disconnecting to" instead of "disconnecting from" for so long now is deeply distressing.

Q box is a rule to itself its about sky getting u to completely use their services its a game...

I don't believe that. Far more likely to be poor engineering.

Well if it was a "con", the new sky routers would work like the old ones and they don't, they behave like 3rd party ones. So someone didn't tell the broadband team about the big conspiracy.

I have not had issues for a long time, as I have previously mentioned what seemed to solve it was when I switched from a Samsung SMART TV to a Sony one, up until then I had tried different routers, power line adapters, a mesh system, switching X,Y and Z on and off in settings... nothing worked reliably until I switched my SMART TV brand read into that what you will, but I suspect it very much has to do with clashing frequecies, FYI the nintendo switch always crashed the SKY and the XBOX series X can do occassionally when connected to the Samsung, even with WIFI off, but no such problems when connected to the Sony.
So the update is I changed my one internet provider from TALKTALK (my old landline with rubbish internet like 30mbs) for a SKY900mbs one, I only had the TT for the landline, I also have a 3 5g internet which gives me around 500mbs, to this I had attached a Tenda MW12 mesh system, and had everything connected to that working no issue.
With the new SKY router being close to the TV I decided to switch the SKY main Q and mini Q over to the SKY broadband, and let me tell you it was terrible, it would not hold a connection for more than a few hours, more often a few seconds, so I attached my MW12 mesh (in bridge mode) to the SKY router, switched the SKY Q back to that and again no problems.
I am far from techy so I am probably making some big mistakes along the way, what I would suggest is if you have any SMART tv try switching them off completely and see whether your problem persists, it may be as simple as changing frequency or something but like I said not techy so I'm stretching.

I have the same problem the box it's always desconecting I do the set up but keeps happening again and again

I have ordered a replacement box is this worth trying or should I cancel and just order a booster with WiFi?
