I went down that root as idiot at sky lost all my recordings ! He failed to fix the issue and ordered me a new box...I refused delivery of it as there's nothing wrong with it its the signal that's being knocked out by the router...Because of going digital which doesn't work in a power cut as u have no land line !!!!! Im now on hub 2 BT which seems to be better...not sure who your with but BT are just awful ...so no new box but BT hub 2 ..sounds basic well it is.....its not the box..

I have no booster my router us upstairs where the line comes in lucky me! So the  box is downstairs and long way.  Only booster i have is for my landlord as its flippin digital it plugs in downstairs and talksvyo my hub upstairs its actually better as I can unplug the landline to avoid scam calls that never give up no matter what u do!

So I have  BT hub 2 it sounds like a downgrade from my hub 6 ! But its not knocked out the q box ! Its band steering that's the issue it needs to be 2.4 hertz thingy not double that im no tech bod its what I've learned from this.  I don't know who u are with? If bt try hub 2 or if your digital yet ? As you'll get a free one! I actually bought mine and my wee line booster plug in for myself.  Or if its near your tv hard wire! I can't as it's ridiculous all over the landing and stairs miles away.  Maybe literally connect your WiFi to the q box is your best bet.  Etha cable is it called? Hope this helps you.

My post was responding to an out of date thing by mistake.

 

So you are using a powerline adapter, not a booster.

 

Everything is going fibre because the old copper lines can't handle the bandwidth we need. Landlines are not really needed long term. If you get a local power cut, use a mobile.

 

Or get a house battery for emergency backup 😉

I started getting this problem a few weeks ago and had to use my router password almost every day. 
still not fixed but if I power my box down the restart seems to force it to look for my router and it connects without entering the password............again.

hopefully SKY will consider correcting this apparent block on none Sky routers. Mines EE but only because EE is massively cheaper for my all in mobile deal linked to my broadband account.

Not sure if others has noticed this phenomenon: my Q box regularly decides to disconnect from my WiFi (non Sky) and attempts to connect to a neighbour's WiFi (surprisingly Sky). Obviously it cannot do that as I wouldnt have the password, so it just disconnects. This is not a network the box has ever connected to.  I work in IT and I've never known a device to try to connect to a network that it has nothing to do with unbidden.  It feels that this is a deliberate fault that has been designed into Sky products.

I turned on Compatibility WiFI on my EE router and connected it to that. 

the Sky Q box has been solid ever since. Fingers crossed.

Yeah that does seem to be, when available, an option that Q is more stable with.

I'm guessing the only solution seems to be using a ethernet cable but I don't have a slot for that as have 2 other devices using one. Frustrating having to reset everyday 😡

I had this issue for months but since BT issued me with the hub 2 whuch looks cheap and nothing like my hub 6 ! It's stayed connected the stronger band knocks the signal out to sky box it prefers the 2.5 whatever its called  hertz thing...so the hub 2 seems to stay connected or the sky q seems to...I expect after this it will be unconnected!!!!! Anyway it's cuz I'm now digital thar I have this bt hub 2 if your not bt I have no idea.

Smart hub 2 it's official name....it maybe worth u getting this one I have a back up one I bought on ebay!!!!! The difference is it takes yiur landline in the back of it others don't all so your WiFi hub controls Internet and landline together crazy world...r u digital yet ? If so u should have the smart hub 2 if u are not then try getting one on ebay make sure it's an official one or simply ask BT it should be free.

Had the same issue, wouldn't stay connected with WIFI, had a call with Sky, really nice helpfull guy, hard wired with Ethernet cable, now on the 500 hub,all good and quicker, no buffering,
