Well after emailing sky I have just been phoned by them. Anyway they suggested I change the HDMI audio setting from Dolby Didital Plus to the normal setting below it. Initial reaction is that it seemed to stop the sound stutter problem on Main Event. Give it a try. I need to watch for a bit longer to be totally convinced it solves the problem.

This put the audio to Stereo only, so no 5.1 (Dolby Digital) and no Atmos if using eARC. (Dolby Digital Plus). It's a downgrade for something your paying for.

It's an absolute nuisance, and a disgrace for cost, bud sadly SKY are used to getting away without doing anything and ignoring millions of customers.

Watching the golf now, unbearable sound cut out on SSME UHD. SORT THIS OUT SKY **bleep** !!

Beginning to think this might be a hardware problem with the box which would cost Sky too much to solve
if that is the case they need to stop changing extra for a service they can't deliver (Dolby Atmos)

Just got a response from Sky Support o Twitter. They are aware of the problem and it is being looked into as we speak.....
Still no confidence what so ever!

You need to consider that there was no problem during last season with the football. There is no problem with UHD Films or any of the various UHD streaming services.
Sky must be aware of the reason, it's the problem with resolution we should be concerned with

Something else I've had happening lately. When watching Netflix or Amazon Prime through my SkyQ box I get severe pixelation or a big green bar on the screen intermittently. This doesn't happen when I connect directly from the TV. Happens throughout the house. Anyone else experiencing this?

@MichaelN Sky Stream has the Dolby Atmos subscription never paid for it with Sky Q I have the UHD subscription but Dolby Atmos will play at 1080p

This is also besides the point, as changing the audio from DD+ means we don't received Dolby Atmos... which is one of the supposed benefits of UHD alongside increased picture quality over 1080p HD.

Question is, will it be fixed by the time the Championship kicks off because that's when the majority of their customers will be watching. I know a lot remove Sky Sports during the summer period.

This has been going on way too long Sky. However, the work around of pausing for a few seconds is working again for me (it wasn't a few weeks ago)
