Weird Black Screen

Since the outage last night, my box has a green light but no picture at all. Funny thing is it's now showing the red recording light which is the correct time to record F1. Anyone got any ideas 🤷🤷We've booked an engineer for Sunday morning but if it's fixable I'd rather not wait T.I A.

With no disrespect towards your Dad, are you sure he actually turned it off at socket? Sometimes people think that pressing the button on the controller does the same thing

I needed to run a software update to get mine working again. There are pages on "My Sky" that tell you how to do the update.

I hope that your Dad is back on line soon. It's not fair there should at least have been a help email from Sky!

I switched mine back on at 2:30 pm today and so far so good.

Box powered down No signal or channels

Symptom:

No connection message/ No recordings/ No channels - This started happening 2-3 days ago and  has been happening since.

 

Remedy:

Rebooted all devices and Wi-Fi Hub even though there was connectivity and speed test carried out.

lost connection again last night and today  (Today being - 16/05/2025)

Full power shutdown  - unplugged from device for 60 seconds and powered up - let see if that helps.

 

Dissapointing:
No advice or explanation from Sky. But Social Media countrywide have had the same fault so it isn't an isolated case or localised areas.
Sky to my knowledge has not issued an explanation and an apology

Re: Sky Q remote control

I just happened to have a new Sky Q box sent out to me this morning due to other previous issues. I don't seem to be able to setup the box at all.  The remote won't turn the box on or if I turn it on manually I can't get it to control the box. Tried calling customer services but recorded message says they're dealing with issues and can't take my call, so I'm stuck for now.

Tried this and no joy. On top of this I am working from home today and was in the middle of a conversation with a new recruit when the broadband crashes!! Not happy!

Hi Malcolm1949.  I finally found a telephone number for SKY  which I tried to enter in this reply but surprise surprise sky blocked it!!.  Wasnt best pleased as got a computer asking me for the issue after which they sent me a link and told me to go online via the link.  To be fair I followed all the steops in the link and when none of them worked I got a message telling me an engineer is needed and i could book an appointment. Sadly I couldnt take the first appointment as I work so will have to wait nearly a week for them to attend
