This specific Paramount+ upgrade process hasn't been but the same message has been seen by some in signing up to Paramount+ in the first place and both signing up and upgrading Discovery+.

Just a random thought...
What would happen - if it hasn't been tried - if you logged on to Paramount via the web, changed your email to one not linked to your Sky account and then tried to upgrade?
Maybe the error is related to email/account details? Perhaps it's treating the upgrade (in some circumstances) as an attempt to create a new Paramount account so it throws up an address already in use type of error? (It would really help to know what the error code exactly means!)

I changed the email on my Paramount+ account to a different email not associated with my Sky account a while ago.
It is possible it is the other way around - i.e. if one has changed one's email on the Paramount+ account away from one's Sky email it causes issues, but the Paramount account recognizes that your account is through Sky.
It will be interesting if others with this error have changed their email account with Paramount.

I have not changed mine, the email on my sky account and in the paramount app are exactly the same.
As an experiment I tried upgrading to the add free middle tier to see if that was any different and exactly the same error occurred.

I notice on some of the screen shots that there looks like an option to cancel Paramount+ (even though it's "free" via Sky Cinema)
Has anyone tried cancelling P+ then adding it again? I suspect the option is probably for is standalone P+ subs and if a Sky Cinema subscriber tried it'd throw up an error of some kind but you never know...

Re cancelling Sky Movies, that itself causes potential issues with respect to prices paid, discounts, and length contracted, etc., so if anyone tries that just be aware of the potential pitfalls [might just be me over-worrying 😨].

Also tried that, it doesn't even appear as an app subscription on the website, it shows as an active part of my content, but when selecting manage content packs all it gives me are options to add packs I don't subscribe to.

I believe the option is there if you go through MySky on the Q (and probably Stream & Glass) box rather than the website? Hence my comment about standalone subs - perhaps it's part of the Sky Marketplace implementation?

Only options from Q are the upgrades that do not work, there's no option to remove, probably because it's tied up with sky Cinema

My bad - checking I can see there isn't an option to remove (the free) Discovery+ on the Q MySky but I was sure there was?!
BUT when I checked on the MySky app on my iPad there is an option to remove it (TV -> manage content packs) hence my confusion.
So to rephrase my question is there an option to remove P+ on the MySky iPad app (I believe there is an android version as well) and if so maybe removing it will allows you to add it back at a higher tier?

You are correct but while it appears like an option when you click remove it just takes you to a help article that directs you right back to the Sky Q box and you end up back in the same place with no actual options to remove....

Having said yesterday that I hadn't dared try, I did in the end last night and got the same as you, eventually getting the help message that pointed out that it was included in the Cinema subscription and as such not removeable.

For what it's worth I have spoken to sky, I tried the chat channel first where I was passed around 4 different people, eventually I was given a number to call and the person on the end appeared to be helpful, but time will tell. Basically he told me this was a known issue that is being worked on but could give me no outlook for a resolution and no workaround was made available to me, he suggested I also raised a ticket with Paramount+ directly, which I did and also raised a chat with them which as I expected resulted in them telling me there's nothing they can do as the billing for my account is directly with Sky.
I don't hold out much hope but it does at least sound like the issue has been acknowledged and I do have an incident ticket open with them.

Further brief update, Paramount+ having dismissed me by chat have responded to the request I raised via their contact portal, they've asked for a picture of the error and my sky account number which I have provided, they've said they will liase with sky to help, so maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel!
