Hi again

 

1. Clumsy language re HDR indicator. Meant drilling down with TV remote, picture settings etc. Sure that was process before.

 

2. Didn't change HDMI when fitting Sonos. (Arc is hdmi 3 on our TV)

Bit unclear on last comment.  
1. Q to Bravia HDMI 4. (One with the 2160 capability)

2. TV to Sonos via HDMI 3. (Arc hdmi, not earc as 2019 model)

 

1 set up produced flawless hdr (where appropriate) for ages.

2. Only had the Sonos for about a month. Great Soundbar-compressed version of Dolby Atmos etc. This is first time I've watched Sky Channel 401 since end of last season. Also first time since Soundbar hooked up.

 did you try the reset to HD & back again ?

did you also try a power down restart of your TV ?

Er indoors has sole control of remote till about midnight. Will try later and report back.

1. I changed resolution to HD.

2. I did reset on Bravia.

3. I restored 2160-10 bit.

4. I watched A Man Called Otto

5. I went into picture settings on Bravia (Display and Sound)  and still only seeing hdmi 4, rather than hdr. I can't recall exactly how I checked b4, but 110% it came on screen as hdr.

5. I'm now worried that £800 Arc is somehow compromising hdr😡

You have tried by-passing the soundbar to prove this issue?

Posting the soundbar model may help.

I can't see how the Sound bar is affecting HDR via your other HDMI port

 

Personally I suspect you method of determining HDR may be flawed - unfortunatly I don't have A Bravia TV to be able to advise.

 

 

If the the downloaded version of A Man called Otto shows the HDR icon then you will be watching it in HDR as SKY Q doesn't let you watch it otherwise

Hi @hapazard2   Depending on your Sony TV (Linux, Android or Google). With my old Android set, I simply pressed the Action key, down and select Picture and it displayed HDR top right. With my new Sony Google TV simply press Info and displays HDR(HLG).

Thanks both. Re determining HDR content playing on Bravia-I'll try the methods suggested. (Really bugging me how I did it before, but definitely came up as "hdr" in top right of screen.

 

Also been in touch with Sonos and they're mystified. Even disconnected Arc, but that was a read herring.

There is no indication on screen (top right hand corner or after pressing info button) confirming hdr, when watching  our Tom Hanks.

 

Sonos understanly dismayed and advised me to contact Sony. Now waiting for latter to respond.

Does your Recording / download have the HDR icon next to it on the SKY Q box

Hi @hapazard2 

Assume you haven't changed your HDMI cable (Q box to TV).

How long is it and do you have another you can try?

Also another Question.

Is your HDMI 4 input on your TV still set to Enhanced format in your TV settings?

This would explain why your TV is not indicating HDR. 

 

What hardware version is your box ?

Is it also definitely set to 10 bit ?
