Same issue me and my wife, 2 different devices (samsung s24). Nothing from Google play store will update or download. 4g/5g works fine

Trying to get to someone at Sky that understands the issue is a nightmare.

It's not just you .. Same started in Wakefield west Yorkshire
Google play finds the update but sticks at pending download
I've been on to sky today... Not much luck so far
I use a 3rd party router
I switched to a never used sky hub with just phone connected same
I have 5 android devices. None work. I enabled Google VPN on pixel. Then it worked.
I switched back to 3rd party router and setup a router wide VPN connection to express VPN. Sending traffic down that worked.
It's not a DNS issue. I tried switching those
I have ports open so not a mapt issue. No broadband shield
I've forced new wan ip a few times
Sky offered a new router but I reiterated my steps to reproduce. Next thing they want to leave equipment disconnected overnight 7 hours
Other thing that struggles is YouTube music download which I use as offline cache

I don't think the sky support desk have the required knowledge. There is something wrong routing to some services to though the sky network. Im in west Yorkshire too so maybe geographicsl and possibly faulty hardware.
I just want it fixed. I tried forcing ip changes also. Let me know if 7hr fix works but I suspect we know it won't

Thanks @TheJools for sharing this conversation on another discussion.
I am also based in West Yorkshire and been having issues with Google apps and YouTube buffering and getting stuck at around 10 secs.
I have the same issue on all my android devices!
Only had this issue for about a week or so, they swapped the router out but still the same.
Everything works fine on mobile data and vpn so I am in agreement that it's an issue with the hardware and seems to be geographical!
Hopefully can get to the bottom of it soon as it is becoming frustrating!

Hi
Leaving router off overnight - no surprise - no change.
I rang sky back and finally managed to convince them to sent it on to network team and stop asking people about router updates and switching off and on.
I had them search out links to various threads on here to demonstrate it a) being a real problem b) multiple people and c) localised Therefore not likely to be solved by turning routers off and on.
They said they would update me from networks team - may take up to 72 hours - if I get a response I will add another post.

@TheJools thank you for your efforts!
I am based in Halifax so not far from Wakefield but when I do a speed test (on some sites) the location it picks up is Wakefield so potentially using the same exchange.
Calling Sky and trying to explain the problem is really difficult, glad they are taking this seriously.

Same common issue here too (google play store not updating), in Leeds.

Same here in Pudsey, Leeds. YouTube is horrific and the speed to the hub is shocking. Past 4-5 days we've had the issues. Got to this chat from another chat about YouTube/wifi issues...

Adding one more report from West Yorkshire to increase visibility.
Symptoms are similar to those reported by others in this and other threads: communication with Google services appears to be affected when accessed via Sky broadband but work fine otherwise. This was first noticed on 2025-01-11 but may have started in December based on the date of last successful update reported in Android logs, and persits to this day.
Symptom #1:
Attempts of updating applications from Google Play Store fail when the device is connected to Sky broadband and succeed as soon as it's switched to another Internet connection (mobile data). Tried on three different Android devices. The way the 'failure' manifests is that either the download gets 'stuck' in progress, or changes its status to 'Pending', hanging indefinitely.
Symptom #2:
Attempt of upgrading Discord desktop application hangs indefinitely when tried over Sky broadband, and succeeds over mobile data connection.
___________________________
The Discord update attempts to access address (removed). This address resolves to (removed). This IP number belongs to Google Cloud (see whois output below).
Attempt of accessing the IP address using telnet hangs when executed through Sky broadband, but succeed over mobile data connection. This shows that the issue has nothing to do with DNS.
Other services within Google as well as outside of it are not affected.
Should anyone try to replicate this test, the commands to use are:

Same happening in Huddersfield too.
I've tried calling Sky & they've gone through multiple things but nothing has resolved the issue
