Sky Go is working fine on my MacBook Air running Sonoma 14.5
Like many things Sky-related, it can be slow to start up. You just need to leave it for a good few seconds and let it do its thing, then it'll do its update and launch correctly. It does for me anyway.
I don't even have a Sky subscription at the moment but it allows me to watch Sky News on the app, as it's a free-to-air news service.

Posted by a Sky employeeHi all,
I've merged a few threads into this main thread to track the issue better.
I do notice we have a handful of Italian Sky Go users/customers on this thread, if you are in Italy please follow this URL to our website dedicated to Sky Italia, click here.
For everyone else, I'm looking to understand the exact steps you are doing and what is happening, page by page so we can report this back to the Sky Go teams. It would also be useful to know if any of these steps have helped you...
@caesarome wrote:
Uninstall the app
Launch the Finder, go to the Downloads folder and delete ‘SkyGoInstaller.’
In Finder, go to the Applications folder and delete Sky Go app
Remove Sky Go files
In the Finder select Go to folder ... from the Go menu (or press c).
A dialog box should appear. Now copy and paste the following text into the box and press the return key: ~/Library/Application Support/
Select the Sky Go folder and delete it
Empty Recycling Bin
Reboot the Mac
Download and reinstall Sky Go
As much information at this point is very appreciated!

Thank you for the response. I believe this is a repeated answer in this thread, and many of us have already confirmed that these steps do not work.
I have tried these steps at least 3-4 times now to make sure I haven't missed anything from the list.
I have 3 Macs, and I can confirm that SkyGo is not working on any of them after a recent app update.
I have a crash report but it does not let me post here.

and searched various other locatins and had no joy. For me, the skygo logo jumps pnce then does nothing. Same after every uninstall, cleanup and reinstall (there have been a few) On macbook air 2020 m1 with latest os. Ive not tried the other suggestion of enabling/disabling things as everything else works fine.

Hi Chloe,
Thanks for the response.
Sky Go app updated automatically and restarted.
As soon as it opened the first time it installed the new update.
Once the update is done, the app just bounces once in the dock and doesn't open.
I deleted every single file related to skyGo even the hidden files and cleanly reinstalled it.
The same issue persists, the app just bounces once in the dock and doesn't open.
I'm on a Sonoma 14.5 27 iMac 2013, another iMac 21" 2012 and a MacBook Pro 2015.

I would suggest to those having problems - try being patient. When the app bounces in the dock just leave it. Don't try clicking it again. Leave it for several minutes if needs be, just let it sort itself out. It should eventually launch the app and perform an update. This again can take time, but don't click on anything else, let it sort itself out. Eventually it should launch.
It works fine for me on my M1 MacBook Air with Sonoma 14.5

As in previous post the issue came with the latest Sky Go update.
I removed Sky go and all sky entries in /Library and ~/Library as is the normal fix and the re-installed. the app but always the same the app does not start after installing.
The fix for me was as follows:
* Remove sky go as in instructions to make sure clean.
* I cleaned NVRAM after powering off and on boot with ⌘ + option + P + R.
* I installed sky go again but got the same.
* So cleaned the install which only installs the sky go app and does not put anything in /Library or ~/Library.
* boot in recovery console and disable sip with csrutil enable in a command line started in the console.
* install the app from Sky go website. After Sky Go works and continues to work with no issues.
I did do some checks after it was working by rebooting into recovery console and disabling SIP with csrutil and when booted sky go would not start. Going back to the recovery console and enabling SIP and the same instation works.
There are option that could be tried to enable which may work and still allow other progreams or extensions but I have not tried these. At present I just enabled SIP completely and living without finder extensions.

Sorry Chloe, don't you think that Italian users are here because they cannot find solution on other ways. Furthermore the link you posted is the official support page of Sky Italy and everyone knows that, unfortunately, up to now Sky didn't provide a solution.

Chloe, my situation is exactly as mentioned by BriggsBridget. I dont think that the "italian" problem is different from others. Definitely I didn't like your answer for italian customers (go out from here and stay on official Sky support for italians). We are Sky customers. Full stop. Not stupid.

I have tried to post the exact procedure to fix the issue and it just gets lost. The procedure is not the answer and should not be put as the answer from my point of view.
The procedure does need to be done to clear out the installation.
However the issue I saw with the Sky Go failing after updating is that SIP is not enabled and the new version seems to need SIP enabled. This should be easy to test by Sky. Just disable SIP with csrutil disable in a recovery console with the latest version installed and see if it stops Sky Go starting when macis booted.

Thanks for the information @david21g,
Your workaround about enabling SIP has worked and I can now get sky go to work. I say "workaround" as I would have to enable and disable SIP dependant on what I do until SKY decide to fix the issue.
Great work (@david21g, not sky)

After doing all that is suggested I keep getting error code 001 and try again.
I pay a lot of money for sky and this is very dissapointing

Strictly speaking that's not correct: a contract for service from Sky Italia S.R.L is made under Italian law (and EU regulation) with a company headquartered in Milan, while a British user has a contract from Sky UK Ltd which is registered with Companies House in London. While both national businesses are constituent parts of Sky Group (a division of the Comcast Corporation) they are not operationally or legally the same entity.

I can't get sky go to work on ANY of my home computers anymore, windows or mac. The only device that seems to work is my partner's iPhone, which is useless seeing as sky STILL prevents you from casting to a TV... Which is silly in its own right because I can watch it on that same TV by plugging an HDMI cable into a laptop running sky go. Or at least I could until it broke.
This is an absolutely pathetic effort from sky. It continues to get worse and worse. We need solutions.
