Sky glass upgrade plan?
I currently have a gen 1 sky glass, I've had it for about a year and I was wondering is there an upgrade plan? Similar to how a phone upgrade works to get the gen 2? Or would i have to pay off my current one and then upgrade? Or could I send my gen 1 back to sky and get the gen 2 and just renew the credit agreement? Thanks for any help.

Re: Sky glass upgrade plan?
@Leighton6 , there is no upgrade option , you can order a gen2 whilst still paying off the gen1

Re: Sky glass upgrade plan?
Do you know if there's maybe a trade in to cover the remainder of the credit agreement for the gen 1 to get the gen 2? Thank you.

@Leighton6 there isn't that option either, best you can do is put the gen1 up for sale on well known auction sites, and see if you can get some money back that way to help towards the cost
note the gen1 credit agreement is non transferable and you must continue to pay that off if you do sell it

Re: Sky glass upgrade plan?
Hi @Leighton6
No Sky will not buy or trade you gen 1. You need to continue repayments on gen 1 even if you purchase a gen 2 and sell your gen 1 separately. Your repayments are for the personal loan taken for the device rather than hire purchase type arrangement.

Re: Sky glass upgrade plan?
@Leighton6 the problem you have at the moment is that the second hand market is getting flooded with Sky Glass Gen 1 TV as people are moving to the Gen 2 models. The second hand value has always been poor and is steadily getting worse.
You would probably have more luck selling in your local market rather than on the established market places.

Do you know how much interest these catalogue and credit cards (for bad credit charge) you end up paying loads back in interest. We have have to use a catalogue before for white goods for example and ended up paying back almost the same again in interest if making the minimum payments each month.
I do agree the price point is too high though.
Yes I know how much the interest rates are on those sorts of options which is why I wouldn't ever do it myself.
But then again I have always been good with my dough so have an excellent credit history/score. So personally I don't have any problems getting 0% purchase and/or balance transfers cards which is the route I always take when making a big purchase.
Even with high interest repayments I suspect you'll still probably get a better telly for less than what the same size Glass Gen 2 will set you back though.

Most things are ridiculous nowadays but to me that's just another reason to stick with Q for as long as we can.

Does everyone (apart from me) live in a mansion these days?! Screens of that size totally dominate the average sized room.
My 48" OLED is perfectly adequate for our needs and more than big enough for our front room.
Our living room is only about 22ft x 11ft and I sit about 14ft away from the TV so 77" is not excessive.
To be honest I actually feel it's still a wee bit small but the layout of the room dictates we can't really go any bigger and keep the telly flush in the centre so 77" is the max size here unfortunately......

Why do I need that window?
The front of our house is on a bridleway and when we first moved in she wanted the telly in the corner because natural light in the daytime. But she then proceeded to keep the blind shut 24/7 because at least 50% of folk walking past were peering in here.
So when I bought the OG Arc at launch around 5 years ago it was actually pretty smooth sailing to get her to agree to having the TV flush in the centre.
We actually get more natural light now with the blind permanently open and the telly obscuring the nosey Parkers' view than we ever did with the blind always shut.
The end result is a happy me and an accepting wife who still can't bring herself to agree I was right 👊🏻
As you can see, there's no shortage of natural light, not even on a very gloomy day in February.....

@stereohaven hahaha if only!
Like when I mentioned swapping the door frame round to accommodate a larger TV the glare I got suggested it could result in a very costly divorce 😱
