That's not quite the full picture. You can fast forward and rewind for free, but not during ads. The ad skipping add on allows you to fast forward ads on Sky, ITVX, Channel 4 and Channel 5 (I think) apps too. That's why it's paid for really, and compared to paying those services separately it's very good value.
I see ad skipping as the equivalent of HD on SkyQ. It's a package nearly everyone is presumably adding that you wonder why it's not just part of it.
Note: HD is included by default on streaming.

Unfortunately UHD is not ..... there's a separate add on pack for that as well . Only for sky on demand items though and some of the sports channels

So I have a sky subscription already which includes HD, UHF which yes, I hate paying for... I guess that will just remain....
How much do they charge to be able to skip the ads?. I can recall what actually happened on sky Q, can you skip ads for free on Sky Q
13 Feb 2025 09:49 PM
To skip ads is currently £5 per month, the only exception being Amazon Prime which you now have to pay a separate ad skipping fee for on top of your prime membership.

With ad skipping, once you join you should be given an offer for ad skipping for free, normally 2 or 3 months. Before the end of the free period cancel and usually the day after it's cancelled you will find another ad skip offer. I joined last April and I've yet to pay for ad skipping at all.

Simply rediculous...... That may have made up my mind....
Will check my sky Q see how that works, I don't pay on there to skip ads.... Amazon prime I have to live with

I recently joined Sky and had my Gen 1 delivered Saturday and now it's booked in for a swap for Gen 2 on Monday.
The service from Sky has been great but I'm a bit miffed that I'm getting charged £25 to return the Gen 1.
I know that's the terms but I've only had the thing on the wall 4 days before they released the upgrade!

My Sky stream sound continually goes out of sync, does this happen with the Sky Glass tv?

It would appear so:

I have just been on live chat and was told i couldn't swap my Gen 1 Glass for Gen 2... Even though I am in my colling off period.
Quite frustrating, really as if I'd have known the new version was coming soon I would have waited to sign up.

@duff13 you can't swap but if you're in the cooling off period you can cancel and return then order gen 2

You'll likely need to pay the £25 return fee for the gen1 TV, but there's nothing stopping you ordering the gen2 model.
You'll just need to make sure Sky's ordering systems can cope with the cancellation of the actual streaming service part of the original order or whether they can keep that running for you to use on the gen2 TV when it arrives.

Similar to being on SkyQ and paying for HD many see that as wrong. But with both the Q HD pack and Glass skipping Ads you can usually negotiate.
