Today's news article said Sky Glass 2 will be available to rent from £14pm from 12th Feb

The news article is wrong. You do not rent Sky Glass TV's, you purchase them outright or on an interest free loan agreement over 24 or 48 months.

Might as well rent them because so many of the units seem to be bricking once the warranty period has elapsed that adopters end up adding another new'un on to the never-never they're still weighing on for the last one 🤨

Over £1100 for a 60Hz screen in 2025. It's comical! Or should that be 'criminal' instead!

I'll pass thanks Sky.

Oh I find his stuff very tedious too. Far too smug for his own good.

Interestingly, the Glass Air appears to have an optical audio output... clearly visible at the top of this screen grab:

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

Not for me, but for many Sky customers it will do the job. Sky always over hype their products, they always have. There is no doubt for what it is it is expensive but for many who will opt to buy a new TV and have Sky paying monthly then it is probably an enticing option and for that Sky can be commended in bringing to market something a little different albeit locking you quite firmly into a Sky contract of 2 years and more......

The choice is over to you 😉

new sky glass2

Hi All, just putting this out there How can Sky possibly treat existing loyal customers into paying the same amount of money every month for sky glass 1 when new customers will Pay the Same for a newer and better model sky glass 2 surely thers something WRONG bigtime!!!

Remember him from when Sky launched Sky Protect. He went through that kit quite well.

That Sky Glass video is a bit short, to get anything more than we know already from it.

Re: SKY GLASS 2

I don't, I have sky glass one, I own it, an article I read on a tech website said the 2nd Gen is available to rent from tomorrow, however since seeing the sky website I can see they were mistaking

Yes, yes, and yes. I completely agree. Sky will have done their market research and opted for something that is adequate and will suit its intended market. The ability to pay pretty cheaply for it over time will no doubt be an attractive selling point for many.

Glass 2 won't suit the sterner critics, nor, I suspect, was it intended to.

Re: new sky glass2

This is why most people didn't go for glass 1, while those that did are now realising their error.

Incidentally, none of us want sky glass 2 either..

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

I was seriously looking forward to this upgrade, I would have honestly bought two but the lack of 120hz and game mode at this price is disappointing. I'll stick to my cheaper Hisense that delivers all this.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

To me it seems like a missed opportunity for Sky Glass 2.0 not to have had Sky Live integrated into it. But I presume they would have had to have increased the purchase price for it because Sky Live is around £5 or £6 per month extra for existing Sky Glass customers.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

Very disapointed they couldn't at least have 120Hz as a feature. My Sky Q contract ends in March and I was really hoping the Glass 2 was going to be a viable upgrade for me. I will upgrade to a newer Samsung model TV and keep the Q box for as long as possible. Poor show Sky, you dropped the ball on the Glass 2!

Interesting idea

I do wonder if some customers would be put off the purchase if Sky Live was bundled in as standard as some might view the concept of Sky Live as quite gimmicky and certainly not something they would find any value in. Obviously Sky Live has a market but i'm sure its much smaller than the market that would be interested in just purchasing the Glass.
