No, but for the sake of ubiquity, some people might be interested, for example in wanting to hook up a playstation 5 or xbox which requires a high refresh rate to truly benefit. I do agree that it probaby looks like a good offering for someone who isn;t a gamer or a complete cinephile, but I was hoping this announcement would showcase further integration of app services such as disney, netflix, apple (and from december, max) into the Sky UI to make navigation and upgrading easier.

Just reading the specs: there's three HDMI 2.1 ports but won't support 2.1 features seeing it's still only a 60Hz screen, bit cheeky that.
That is no upgrade at all then and thus not much good for gaming, just saying.
It states one of those ports is eARC so they anticipate adopters will still want to be upgrading the audio from this super-duper built-in seven speakers they're so keen to shout about 🤔
And as for the much vaunted upgrade options they were so eager to promote when the OG Sky Glass launched, well the silence is deafening.

How powerful are the speakers? There's no way Glass 1 was 215 watts..

Remember when the first generation TV came out and they said you'll be able to trade it in when newer models come in? Seems like a lie since you can't upgrade whilst you're in contract, there's no mention of trading it Sky Glass 1 and you now rent it and not own it. Suss

You DON'T rent a Glass TV, you own it from day 1, but if you get it on credit you are still liable for all repayments.
I'm not sure why you seem to think it's rented?

@And4091 where have you seen or heard that as far as we know glass tvs are still customer owned

I agree, the agreement is clear. But during the Gen 1 launch, Sky literally said on stage there would be an upgrade programme.

Perhaps they have rowed back on that as there's now a 22 billion quid black hole they didn't know was there? 🤔

I really like how they have not listened to anyone, no recorder, no oled., literally nothing to justify the price of the device, again.
Sky should be selling these at discounted rates to entice people in, which would then be justified by the actual technology in the TV set, rather than charging a premium price to have people locked into sub par hardware for the rest of their contract and/or paying the set off.
I just can't fathom how they think doing exactly the same is going to get differennt results, only this time around the people who did go for glass 1 won't be lining up to buy glas 2 as the major flaws are exactly the same, so there will be even fewer people willing to try it.
What an own goal!

The news article is wrong. You do not rent Sky Glass TV's, you purchase them outright or on an interest free loan agreement over 24 or 48 months.
