My toddler has some how managed to smash a part of our sky glass TV and now the screen doesn’t work.

my toddler has accidentally managed to smash part of my sky glass tv. So now the screen doesn't work. Is this covered under the 2 year warranty? As we now cannot watch the tv at all...

That wouldn't be covered under warranty.

Screen repairs are usually very un-economical, and it's usually more cost effective purchasing a new or refurbished TV to replace one with a damaged screen.

You should check your home contents insurance to see if that covers accidental damage.

Only if your own home contents insurance has accidental damage as part of it.

Sky will not repair or replace screens, all they can do is offer you a replacement, possibly refurbished Sky Glass TV at a small discount.

Give them a ring and see what they can do but be prepared for a hefty additional bill.

If you have sky protect they will cover it for accidental damage with no excess to pay.

It's an optional thing that Legal and General offer, it's not included in your sky bill it's seperate.

I would claim through your home insurance if it has accidental damage.

@AnnaGoodchild32  Sky protect is an insurance policy from domestic and general so you would have a policy document with them if you have it

whilst it uses skys name it has nothing to do with sky directly

Re: My toddler has some how managed to smash a part of our sky glass TV and now the screen doesn’t w

@SKY1992bf @AnnaGoodchild32

It is a little confusing as there is 2 Sky Protects

1 by legal and general and 1 run by sky itself.

The one provided by legal and general is for Sky Kit, TV's, laptops, phones etc

The one provided by sky is building and contents insurance in its own right.

Sky protect  is a separate  insurance policy,  I have it is £9.00 a month covers my 55inch sky glass tv,  my puck and my 43inch lg tv, so you  would know  if you  had sky protect. It's  through  domestic and  general

The Building and Contents insurance is underwritten by Zurich: Sky isn't licensed or regulated as an insurance company.

Sorry but my sky protect  policy , both paper & downloaded clearly  says on the top of them domestic and  general,  not legal and general

@ThePope27

Because people think it's 'Sky insurance', and it's not.  To be fair, Sky is deliberately confusing the situation with its marketing.

One issue is that longstanding Sky television customers posting in the Protect forum get upset when 'Sky' won't offer them cover, because they don't understand it's not actually Sky doing so: the actuarial data analysis on which a policy is quoted or denied is all carried out by the underwriter.

 @ThePope27 as @peter-marlow+1966 states the Sky protect for Sky kit etc is from Domestic & General not Legal & General  😀
