Re: Sky stream is absolutely awful. I’m done
I have four pucks at the moment. On my main puck which gets used the most I have three times this week had the "Techinal Error" crop up. I have had to cycle the power to get it working again. Most of the time the apps still work (the network is still good) but the TV streaming stops, or gets stuck on one station.
Yesterday I swopped this puck with one of my others, so I will see if the fault lays with the puck or whether they are all as bad as each other.
I was just wondeirng if anyone on this forum has got a puck which they use every day, say 6+ hours a day, and it never shows a fault? I would like to know whether I am chasing the impossible?

Its a current known fault .... sky are aware. Temp workaround is a power cycle

Re: More stream nonsense
This whole thing made me ring Virgin, they were able to do the same package cheaper and for £5 more would chuck in TNT sport. The only reason I am staying with Sky is because I'm in contract and I have all my "recordings" on there; otherwise, I would have gone with Branson's lot.

I am getting rather fed up with my puck freezing on the start screen every time it is woke up after over night. Having to switch it off and on again at the plug is not acceptable. A fix is needed NOW not when Sky can be bothered to.
Your issue is not necessarily related to this problem.
If you have not done so, make sure your puck has these settings set;
Set Network standby mode to ON and Overnight power saving to OFF.
Turn wifi OFF under Network if your puck connected via an ethernet cable.
If you set the above, also do a settings restart straight after, as this ensures the option is correctly set.
Go to Settings>Systems Management>Resets & Updates
Select Restart device
Your Sky Stream puck will perform a reboot. It will take a few minutes to complete the restart.

Re: Puck keeps freezing, crashing while watching ihd
Already had the WiFi turned off, it's just froze and said technical difficulties within 5 minutes of the game kicking off and then needed to be reset again, for about the third time today.

Re: More stream nonsense
It is setup as the sky engineer set it when I had issues with my router previously, which he replaced.
Why on earth should I have to turn off power save at night to resolve ANY issues? That's plainly not acceptable.

@SaeranMainly because it seems to help with reliability and is a complete waste of time as the electricity saving wouldn't even be noticeable.. You don't mention if you have Networked Standby Mode turned on or not. As it has nothing to do with the router I suspect your BB engineer would not have even looked. Having it turned on sorted out freezing issue when waking from standby on my Glass TV (and now my puck) nearly 3 years ago. It's certainly worth trying to see if it helps rather than simply dismissing the suggestion.

Because it will come out of standby without taking 10 minutes to turn on. As mentioned above by @Fothergill1 you d be lucky to see a few extra pennies on your quarterly bill .....

Re: More stream nonsense
Hi @Saeran as mentioned in post 35 above, this may not be what is causing your specific issue and it might be part of the wider problem being experience by others. But as I said it's certainly worth trying and if it makes no difference then you haven't lost anything.
The important one to try is having Networked standby mode set to ON.
Good luck.🤞

Have moved you post to this similar ongoing issue discussion thread.
A temporary workaround is to perform a settings restart or power reset, as you are doing.
Sky have been made aware by Community Superusers in the closed community area, of this issue affecting some Sky Glass TV and Sky Stream customers

Unplugging it and plugging it in didn't fix it for 5 minutes for me

Perhaps, try doing a settings restart instead.
Go to Settings>Systems Management>Resets & Updates
Select Restart device
