That is ultrafast 1 you are on and it is G.fast, the TP-Link isn't compatible with G.fast only VDSL2.

You'll need to source a G.fast modem if you wish to continue using your own Asus router or set up the Asus in access point mode after the SR204 Sky Hub.

Getting in excess of 80Mbs over a phone line has to be G.fast because FTTC has a maximum speed of 80Mbs

A modem / router used with G.fast requires a different modem chipset to one used for FTTC (which as I said is much more common).

Re: Sky compatible routers

@mae-3  Do you know any modems that work with Gfast?

I did the router as an access point the other night and I had double Nat on the Xbox series X

The DrayTek Vigor 166 is often mentioned.

There's at least one currently on eBay for half the retail price.

The Draytek Vigor V166 G.fast & VDSL2 modem would do the task and is available on Amazon for £130 or so.

thanks guys. Really appreciate it.

can you not buy direct from the Draytek website? I looked just but no price. Also there's 2 versions, shall I get the V2 version to be covered?

I don't think DrayTek sell direct: they will be stocked by all typical online retailers

Be sure to get that particular model number and not the closely numbered ADSL/VDSL versions.

v1/v2 is often based on components variation and is there to indicate which firmware is relevant.

Yes, that router is fully compatible with Sky and the Draytek 166 G.fast modem.

Re: Sky compatible routers

Hi sorry to post here I don't want to hijack the thread, but it is linked to this.  I have just had superfast installed ( a few weeks ago).

It's fttp (as in there's a fibre cable comes into my property, to replace the phone line socket) yet my router shows MER under Network type.  My WAN port shows Connected to Port 4.  So having read the thread I'm confused as you're suggesting I have a fttc system, not fttp.  I currently have 368mb down and 72 up - I pay for 400.

The reason I found the thread is I have an SR203 with the wifi removed, and I run a DECO mesh system which works well for the most part.  However now I have fibre I wanted to use the DECO system in router mode not AP mode.  I was actually looking for how I find the "username and password" for the actual connection, but this has thrown me somewhat!

I have an IT guy mate who can come and set stuff up, I just wanted to see what I needed to know in advance.

But now I'm confused as to what system I think I have, or whether the settings on my router haven't been updated properly, which may explain the little strange things that are happening which makes me want to swap over.

Any help appreciated, and again apologies I didn't want to detract from the people who are seeking help above!

Cheers Spencer

Re: Sky compatible routers

@Spen+H

The Deco mesh isn't compatible with Sky authentication, unfortunately. And you have FTTP at those speeds with an Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
