Hi I've recently moved into my new home and I have had sky super fast installed and sky Q with 1 additional box.
however the wifi is not great especially upstairs so I'm looking to replace it with a third party one but from doing research I've seen it's not as simple as a straight forward swap.
ideally I would like to use a new router and then a switch to set up my home network.
is there any recommendations for routers that work with sky which would also allow me to prioritise certain devices for gaming etc. preferably ones that are relatively straight forward to set up.
Also any recommendations on some good switches would be massively appreciated

Will these routers work as a router? I'm reading that some can only be set up as access points. Don't suppose you can point me in the direction of someone on here who is using one or has in the past?

Are you on sky superfast fttc or ultrafast fttp?
If superfast fttc you would need a dsl modem router ie asus dsl ac models . If have have fttp your just need a standalone router ie asus rt ax models
Ie that way they will work fine with sky

I can't log in I type in the user and password. I've never changed it so it should be admin sky?
it just keeps coming up with a blank log in screen over and over again

It means you either need a modem router such as any asus dsl ac modem router or a seperate modem bridge such as the tp link td w9970 and an asus rt ac or wifi6 ax router.
What is your budget and what features are you looking for ?

I would be open to a modem because it means I can move my router to my office because I have a Ethernet that runs through the wall to there.
budget is about £300 as an absolute max
main things I would like is bandwitdth priority for like pc Xbox etc. I'm going to be using Home assistant so something that has great coverage will be also ideal

I would recomend tp link td w9970 set to modem bridge mode (about £35)
Instructions for setting up tp link td w9970 as modem bridge
select sky vdsl from isp list
https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1332/
And a bare minimum of asus rt ax58u for adaptive qos. The asus rt ax82u is regarded as asus starting point for a gaming router.

is that easy to set up?
is there also a all in one device?
do you happen to have the price ranges for the routers so I can see how much of the budget it will use?

The trickiest bit will be the tp link and switching it to bridge mode
"is there also a all in one device? "
The asus dsl ax82u is a gaming modem router all in one but when you switch to full fibre fttp that sky mer bit becomes iffy and you would be reliant on your exchange supporting dhcpv6 prefix delegation (apparently 80% or exchanges do) but no way to find out

@cookiemonsteruk
so I could get the asus dsl ax82u see if it will work on its own and if it doesn't then get the tp link modem and run the asus through that?
