Personally I suggest removing the BBU from the circuit: it's a fairly pointless device given it cannot power a router, and just becomes a potential point of failure itself.
Openreach typically uninstalls BBUs when encountered during a job because they recognise the concept was a mistake.

@TimmyBGood Completely agree with that statement 100% waste off space, but if there working and the batteries are goosed then if the power does blip that ONT will reset. New BBU PSU's are all 12V D.C. now with longer lasting batteries....

All such cells have a finite lifespan and charging cycle count though, and this appears to be an issue Openreach, the ISPs and Ofcom still have no idea how to deal with.
The current widespread distribution of cheap desktop computer UPS units to 'vulnerable' broadband customers is going to turn round and bite them quite badly in some years time when the built-in (and unsilenceable) 'no charge' alarms start going off.
