I didn't get a reply but they kept releasing new builds until it finally worked. By the way I changed to 8 bit and still got the UHD tags and it played in UHD/SDR.

I'll try that

Ah no, it didn't, still doesn't show the 4K tag. Not a worry, waiting for Sky to get back to me

That's all nice and well but 3 weeks ago it did show up... albeit with a black screen. We'll see what Sky says

Just spoke to sky technical. They did all they could remotely, we reset the settings but to no avail. So they are sending an engineer on Saturday to see if the box needs to be replaced? I don't think HDR should limit it, or lack of.

Well that was interesting. Engineer came out, we tried another V3 box and on Q14 software the iPlayer showed the UHD symbol on certain programmes, but usual black screen and sound. The once updated onto Q19 software it stayed there, but didn't work. The engineer then did change the UHD to 8 bit and the iPlayer then didn't show the UHD symbol anymore. The engineer then reported this to HQ and they will investigate. It's clearly a software issue. So watch this space.

That may be, but surely Sky and BBC should have put out a notice that hey everyone, we're finally showing UHD on the iPlayer via Q... only for HDR users. Anyway Sky is aware so expect something official soon? What I don't get is that previously BBC collaborated with the Q and showed Wimbledon semis in UHD a few years back. I guess they are still trialling. I mean in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter coz iPlayer app through telly works great. Proper first world problem that is... pressing extra buttons lol 😂

@Austinored If you really want to watch UHD on BBC, you will need to buy a new TV that does UHD/HDR. (HLG). I suggest a TV that supports Dolby Vision.

No need, the TV app works just fine with 4K, stunning picture. No need for HDR. It's just a gimmick.

Indeed. But we have been waiting quite a few years now for UHD versions to appear as an option on Q's red button. I'm disappointed that the BBC seems now to be abandoning the few live events they have been "trialling" regularly in 4K over the last few years - especially the FA Cup.
They have kept quiet about Wimbledon this year too, though apparently they did intend to have a 4K version of last night's Eurovision Final on the iPlayer - that is until they found out that the only UHD feed available was not "clean" i.e. contained some form of advertising 🙄.

Yes I did also notice that FA Cup Final wasn't in 4K either. At least they are showing amazing documentaries in 4K as well as some TV shows. @TM2009 who knows one day it will be available to all on Q without going into iPlayer.

HDR is not a gimmick. If done right, you do get a better picture with more accurate colors.
