Re: Sky connection to AV Receiver
hi 1st of all optical does not support dolby atmos you need hdmi u are also better getting hdmi internet cable ,I would connect av receiver to TV via arc or e arc ,then connect sky q box to TV hdmi port with hdmi Internet connection that way you will get true 5.1 sound from your av and best quality picture especially if you have a 4 k TV. I know what you are thinking but sky q connected directly into back of av receiver just won't work on many av receivers. I have just purchased a denon avx 2700h and had my sky q box replaced 3 times the problem is with the box since sky had the latest updates ie stv thats when all the problems began b4 box updated all worked perfectly.

Re: Sky connection to AV Receiver
Make sure arc is enabled ie turned on ,on your TV. Connect av receiver to TV via arc , then sky q box to hdmi port on TV, that way great picture great sound.

Re: Sky connection to AV Receiver
Tried it this way. Sky Q using HDMI to TV, then TV using ARC HDMI to AV. Great UHD picture and great sound, but the audio has a negative delay with no way to correct it. Audio delay on Sky Q and also AV is positive delay so just makes lip sync worse. Now just using optical from Sky Q to AV and no audio delay problem. Not sure that I am getting the best sound quality this way.
Might be a separate issue but I am finding quite a few problems with very muffled voices with dialogue difficult to understand. Im using all Monitor Audio Bronze speakers so quality not an issue. Big films with big effects sound amazing.

Re: Sky connection to AV Receiver
Which IP address? The IP address of the device you're using (ie your phone or laptop)? You can find your IP address of your device by going into the wifi settings on that device.

Re: Sky connection to AV Receiver
Not a great start! I had Sky installed today - having left Virgin Media (Tivo 6 box). The Q box (as was the Tivo box) is connected via HDMI into a Denon X3700H AVR. The AVR eARC HDMI out is then connected (via a splitter box) into TV (eARC) and also to a Projector. All worked fine with Tivo Box but I'm now losing picture with Sky Q every couple of secondes (black screen then it returns). I have disabled CEC on both the Sky box and AVR. I recall having this issue with the Tivo at one point but was able to go into its settings and "tick" the 1080p and 2160p and others resolutions above 720p and it did the trick. The Sky box only has the option of Picture resolution of 2160p (UHD) or 1080p (HD) not both. I have it set to 2160p and tried it at 1080p but no change in picture drops outs.
Obviously I can connect the Q box directly to the TV and have sound via Optical cable but lose benefits of Dolby Atmos through the AVR and I would have to change source settings on my tv to go between all other sources (4k firestick, blu ray player and PS5) and a different source for the Sky Q box. No ideal. Any thoughts?

There have been a few discussions on Denon Amps with SKY Q not always playing nicely - worth doing a seach for Denon and looking at a few - although I don't think there are any definitive solutions - although one of the suggestions was to do what you have done - switch off CEC control
A couple of suggestions to try :
1) Try the AV amp direct to TV or Projector & not via a switch
2) Unless specifically needed try setting the TV to ARC rather than eARC - I am not sure it will make a difference but I seem to recall someone reducing a problem (can't remember what) by doing that

@JimmyJohnHave you tried 1080i as that is the native resolution of the Q box. With UHD it may well be that something in the link from the box, splitter, projector, or even a cable etc etc is not compatible with HDCP 2
