Re: Remote network problem

Have raised a complaint and was offered £10 so said No. Asked for Sky to write to me and acknowledge that this is an issue, but they just closed my complaint down and didn't. So opened up the complaint again and refusing to close the complaint until 1) Sky write and acknolodge this is an issue and 2) give us updates on progress.... this is like a black hole of no information. By the way, during discussions oabout the complain 1st timw round I was told this is a wider issue as of 24th Nov and on the second discussion told it is a known issue since 1st Dec... Have now been asked to contact my ISP to ask them to look if they can help (so will do so knowing that it won't) and then wait for another call with the complaints department. I don't think we are asking for too much are we.... to be able to use the services Sky sell and charge us for... There's quite a few people on here affected so wonder how many other there are. and who would by Sky if they knew that On-demand donwloded may not work! It is getting rediculous now.

Re: remote network problem

We've been having this problem for months. Sky replaced our Q box last week but it didn't fix it. They now say they think it's an ISP issue so we contacted our ISP and they checked to see if we had any restrictions on our service (mifi 100Mb download/30Mb upload) and we did have but for barring adult content. The ISP removed all restrictions but it has made no difference whatsoever. One thing I find revealing is that we can always view the Trailers for anything we try to download. They will download every time but the full movie/program fails 90% of the time.
I believe it's a server issue at Sky's end and that they know about it but are dodging responsibility to avoid giving customers rebates due to lack of services promised. It sucks when we pay £70 per month for something that rarely works yet we pay just £10/month for Netflix and Amazon Prime and they work flawlessly. We have four miniboxes and we've had to run ethernet wires for everything as the wifi mesh network was awful. This Sky Q system has been a real disappointment. We upgraded to a high end 4K TV and a 4K compatible surround sound decoder/amp only to discover that Sky have no 4k channels to watch via the satellite dish. You have to download any 4k content using your broadband. Which fails. All in all we've spent several thousands of pounds 'upgrading' our home Sky TV setup but it's worse than our old Sky Plus setup. It's absolutely disgraceful on Sky's behalf.

@Steve+SkywalksrThis does not really answer your question but you say you have 4 mini boxes, only 2 can be used simultaneously.

Re: remote network problem

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the last couple of days? Programmes I had been unable to download, have downloaded. I managed to get the three Guessable episodes I wanted without remote errors and I had tried many, many times before without any success. Too early to say but seems better. Anyone else?

Re: remote network problem

@Steve+Skywalksr

You can not see F1 UHD or football UHD transmitted via Sat, something is wrong with your setup as everybody else can see UHD via Sat.

Very rare not to download programs and that is because my ISP has problems not sky.

If you disconnect the minis can you download programs normally? many moons ago I had a similar problem occured as you but only when the mini was connected. I removed the mini and all was well again, when Q120 came along I reconnected the mini and all is good again, no problems since. My system is hardwired no wifi for sky.

Re: remote network problem

Turning off the mini makes no different to the remote network failure issue. I've tried. I used three different network providers, same issue with each. Same issue via Ethernet and Wi-fi. Touch wood, I updated the software, again, I've done that before and it's working bette Now than it has for months.

Re: Remote network problem

I have also had this problem over the past few weeks - all since I switched from Plusnet to BT FTTP but I think I may have sorted it on my end.

I've had a Deco M5 mesh system with Sky Q in use successfully for several years, but on changing over to BT I also changed my DNS settings over to Cloudflare (for hypothetically faster speeds)

Changing back the DNS from Cloudflare to the BT default and it's been working fine for the past 3 days - touch wood.

For the avoidance of doubt I am not using any provided isp equipment, apart from the Openreach ONT but changing my DNS to the BT default has certainly worked.

Re: Remote network problem

I've been having this problem for weeks now. I'm with Three Mobile Broadband as it gives me speeds of about 40mb compared to Sky's up to 2mb.
I can't download any content at all as it stalls and most of the time it only downloads a few minutes if that. I've tried linking my sky box wirelessly and wired and neither work.
My AppleTV works absolutely fine and I've had no issue with the WiFi.
It's quickly driving me insane now!
