Re: Remote network problem

I've been waiting since July for a fix for this problem and for the mini TV to be returned. TBH if there was a cedible multiroom solution out there I would junk sky in a flash. If the problem does not get fixed by Christmas I will consider cancelling my subscription as that would be the final straw.  Some chap from sky has popped into the forum to say they are working on it but nothing has happened for over 4 moths now.  Shame as I have had sky for many years now but they are not focused on cusomer service at all.

Re: Remote network problem

I have been having the same problem for months. Engineer blamed my tplink router so I tried to raise a formal complaint but got robbed off saying  i can't make a complaint about a problem that does not exist that they can't fix! Eventually after arguing that it fails with different 4g routers and that i wanted to make a formal complaint about having an issue that no one will acknowledge I have a sky 'network specialist' coming out ! but having read this I now can see there is definitely Sky issue that sky need to own up to and fix

Re: Remote network problem

Starting to think this too as everything else works fine as u can watch Netflix etc on other things just not the q box! If it was Internet related nothing would work.

Re: Remote network problem

We've been having this issue occur for months. It happens about 60-70% of the time, and I usually have to sit and keep hitting download until it works. Sometimes coming out to home, then going back to find the program again does work, but not all of the time which means it's probably a fluke.

We are on Sky fibre, with their Q style router. That said, it's a fibre router only and it's then linked to the WAN port on a Ubiquiti Unifi network, with everything hard wired. This is not an issue with routers, or wired, or wireless.  The boxes will be trying to connect to a remote server, and if your DNS is right, then it will connect. If your DNS isn't right, you wouldn't be getting anything. This is a sky server issue. My guess is it's traffic related.

Re: Remote network problem

Thought I was getting somewhere this week as it all started working great,I thought yippee until  I accidentally turned the router off instead of the telly and it all stopped working again 😭 so im stumped as to what is causing this

Re: Remote network problem

So, a sky engineer came out and said that it is an issue with 4 G routers because they don't work like the Sky Go mobile App so don't download the same way and there are incompatibilities. To fix the issue Sky connected a white Sky hub to my router and then connected the sky hub to the sky box. it worked while the engineer was here but kate downloads fail again so still not sorted

I'm sorry, but that's garbage. I'm not on 4G, and I see the same issue.

As has been said numerous times above, I doubt that this problem is caused by anything at the user's end. It's likely an issue at Sky's end, so no amount of reconfiguring of your network is going to make any difference.

The problem is intermittent, so you might change something and it then work, but equally it might have worked that time anyway. I haven't changed anything in my network since this started. Most of the time it works just fine, but occasionally I'll see the same issue. Usually retrying a few times is enough to get it to work.

Re: Remote network problem

What he said about 4G routers is a convenient excuse! I experience the problem using my standard BT broadband., it's not a problem at our end. Sky need to take responsibility and stop looking oking for the option that lets them off the hook.

Re: Remote network problem

Interesting that it fails on non 4g and i agree that this all worked for months after I had sky. nothing changed my end but this started failing.. If this is a sky community can't sky reply to this and explain the problem, or is that the issue, we are laying for on demand but sky don't want to acknowledge that there is an issue.
