Re: Remote network problem

All

Spoke to Sky Technical Support late yesterday.  They said it was a known problem affecting different hardware etc for most if not all of the download services.  It is affecting some users and not others and they are rolling out a software update to Sky employees this week and then the rest of the commjnity over the next couple of weeks.  They said by 5th November I should have the update.  They just quickly checked I'd done a recent software update and was still experiencing the problem.

I wouldn't say they filled me with confidence that they had a fix but were certainly trying something.  So I will wait and see for a couple of weeks.

Re: Remote network problem

Hi all,  know how Kazza feels having same frustrating problems, watched all of The Walking dead on sky plus box but having the new Sky Q box was bad timing for us as those who watch it know they kept back the last episode and now I can't download it, however the strange thing is it will let me download all the previous episodes of this series does this mean it is something that Fox is doing not Sky.  Like to hear from Sky on this one but still can't get Netflix on  Q box , when the engineer came a couple of weeks ago he thought it may be my router but I can still watch Netflix on the smart TV so don't see that.  What does Andrew think.  Bryan

Re: Remote network problem

When I first got Sky Q a couple of years ago, I could queue an entire TV series and it would have no problems downloading, then after a firmware update, I've been plagued with remote network problems.

Nothing has changed at my end, so I assume the "Remote" part of the error means it's sky's fault, but I wouldn't be surprised if "remote" means Sky's network is ok, thus it's a remote fault at our end, which is not the case.

It really is getting to be a PITA. I just can't understand why a firmware update a year or so ago can't be re- flashed to the way it was previous to that, also, I have one other moan, I don't like the newer interface, and there needs to be an option to delete all downloads and recordings in one go, instead of having to delete recordings and downloads one by one in the manage tab.

It also needs an  "empty recycle bin" option.  I know the box will delete things automatically when the space on the hard drive is nearly used up, but I'm **bleep** and I like to keep my recordings to a minimum so that I don't have to delete things one by one.

Thats been something thats bugged me from day 1 of having sky q.

One button to delete every deleted recording is all I ask for.

Re: Remote network problem

Spoke to someone at Sky again on Friday, they have actually said they are now having issues with smaller BB providers  and the box, which they are hoping to try and fix but whether or not it is,is another story.

Re: Remote network problem

We're still looking into this but if you're with another internet provider, particularly the smaller ones, we'd recommend asking them if they have any settings that can be changed or if they have another solution because some of the customers we've been tracking have had success with this.

Thanks,

Re: Remote network problem

Hi Kei

This is interesting - is it anything to do with IP Blacklists?

Thanks

Re: Remote network problem

I'm pretty sure the issue lies with Sky and not the ISP's.
