Sky signature price rise

I have received a letter from sky stating that my sky signature subscription of £20 per month ( discounted by £13 until November 2026) is increasing by £6, a whopping 30 % . Can they do this and/or can I cancel my contract .

The letter / email explains that you can't cancel a TV subscription due to the increase but you can with a broadband increase.

Sky calculate the percentage increase based on the list price, not the discounted price you're currently paying. Sky are therefore indicating the average increase in list price across all their services.

The letter clearly states my sky signature subscription is increasing by £6  that is 18 % of the undiscounted price . I thought the maximum they could increase prices by in contract is 10% .

My increase was £4.  I'm not sure if £6 is correct...

The same thing happened to my grandma the other day, she received a similar letter saying how the price of each of her subscriptions was rising, and we thought that the price was fixed? 🤔🤷. Just another way of getting the elderly folk to move from Sky+ to something they can't use and won't know how to use

It applies to customers on other platforms too, not just Sky+.

@bobbyb23 That statement is not a fact it's an opinion.

Sky's contracts have always had a clause for yearly price increases, just like most of the other providers.

If you don't think that should happen then don't sign up to a contract that allows it.

I accept that  they can increase the price by up to 10% but that should only be £3.30 not £ 6.00.

My signature increase as per the email is £7. All other elements of it  HD, multiroom, etc are staying the same. 🤷‍♂️

It's the increase in the base price that matters in terms of the percentage increase. If you have existing good discounts, which you do, then naturally your increase works out as a greater percentage.

I too have been informed of a £4 increase on Sky signature.

The email says it is so they can continue to improve the service which we all know is a lie.

Is removing Eurosport channels plus making Paramount + unwatchable through constant adverts an improvement.?

surely this has made the service worse and a reduction in charges would be more appropriate.
