April 2025 Price Increases
I have been a Sky customer for around 9 months now, after moving over from Virgin Media in June 2024. I have a Sky Glass TV which I paid for in full when I joined Sky. My current contract with Sky lasts for about another 9 months (It was originally an 18 month contract).
I have the Sky Ultimate TV package (Sky Entertainment with Netflix) which (pre-price rises) costs £27 per month, Ad Skipping which costs £5 per month and Ultrafast Broadband which costs £16 per month.
Sky emailed me a few days ago to advise me that my subscription prices will be going up. A price rise next month wasn’t unexpected but what was unexpected were the amounts of those increases.
My Ultimate TV package (Sky Entertainment with Netflix) which currently costs £27 per month is due to increase by £3 per month which equates to an increase of 11.1%.
My Ad Skipping which currently costs £5 per month is due to increase by £1 per month which equates to an increase of 20%.
My Ultrafast Broadband which currently costs £16 per month is due to increase by £3 per month which equates to an increase of 18.75%.
I think I read somewhere that I can cancel my Sky Broadband mid-contract and move to another Broadband provider penalty-free but I am not sure where I saw this or if that is 100% correct? I do not believe that I can cancel my Sky TV subscription penalty-free whilst I am still under contract with Sky for another 9 months, or presumably that I cannot re-negotiate my monthly charges with them?
Are Sky actually allowed to increase their monthly costs by so much? and given that I am still under contract to Sky, what are my options to reduce my monthly costs?
Thanks in advance for any responses that might be received.

Re: April 2025 Price Increases
With your Sky contract they are allowed to increase the total by up to 10% or inflation I believe. This is based on the list price of products, not your individual offers.
You cannot leave your TV contract early because of price rises unless they break the contract.
You can leave, I believe, your broadband as long as you do so within 30 days of the price increase notification.
For reducing prices take a look at any rolling contracts you have. Ad skiping is normally a 31 day contract, so you could remove that. Likewise if you have UHD or Kids these tend to be 31 day contracts too.
Consider liking this post if it was helpful, or mark as an answer if it solved it for you.

Re: April 2025 Price Increases
@MisterM18 You can cancel broadband within 30 days of receiving the notification
sky tv terms and conditions explicitly state you cannot cancel during the minimum term unless sky agrees to release you, if they do you will be liable to pay the remaining months of the contract
the increase is applied to list price not any discounted amounts you which means your personal increase can be more than 10% maximum the terms and conditions state these terms and conditions also allow for the increase

Re: April 2025 Price Increases
Regarding my Sky Broadband, I have checked in My Bills and it says:
Sky Broadband Ultrafast 1 £46.00
In-Contract discount -£5.00
Broadband Subscription Discounted -£25.00
Total due: £16.00
If I am reading the above correctly, does that mean that when my current contract expires in 9 months time, my Broadband cost will increase from £19 per month to £49 per month? (with both of those figures including Sky’s £3 increase next month).
I have just done a quick check on one of the comparison websites and even with Sky’s increase to £19 per month for my Broadband, they are still a couple of pound cheaper than the cheapest other Broadband providers. I will have a look on some of the other comparison websites to check their costs.

Re: April 2025 Price Increases
I'm a Sky "Diamond" customer and pensioner and was informed last week that my bill including Broadband at £29 will be £136.49 from April 2025 - this is an atrocious rise of 16.1 % !!!
So much for inflation!!
Just had a call from Sky saying they were "helping customers to reduce their bill" - after being on the phone 30 mins and passed around managed to get it down to £130.99 but for 2 years. This is an 11% rise - cant say what they've reduced though as the "Key Facts" link in their email doesnt work .

That price isn't fixed - it will go up next year.
