Re: Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu into one single subscription, exclusively on Sky

There's a lot on here about costs.  Let's also remember everyone puts their prices up, it isn't just Sky, I held off on resubscribing to Disney as they put that up by another £19 per year, not a lot but it's still an increase.  Your mobile providers put proces up annually, as do all other ameneties, there's no-one providing a service and decreasing prices; I think we have to accept this as the way the world works.  In the same way, pensions increase and if you're lucky enough to have an employer that gives you a pay rise - those costs have to be absorbed somewhere.

Having more streaming platforms in one place for me is easier to navigate than so many separate apps and configuration.

Indeed, and with the decline in traditional broadcasting, being a content aggregator and having the convenience of being able to bundle all these streaming services together with Sky is one of their key aims as they pivot away from traditional satellite broadcasting.

Re: Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu into one single subscription, exclusively on Sky

Saw this on Geektown:

We already knew HBO Max was landing in the UK and Ireland on Thursday, 26th March 2026. The date has been circled for a while. What we did not have until now was a clearer look at exactly what would be sitting on the service when it switches on.

Warner Bros. Discovery has now revealed a sizeable chunk of the launch offering, and it is very much leaning into the platform’s biggest strength: scale. For the first time in the UK and Ireland, audiences will be able to stream content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Studios, Max Originals and TNT Sports all in one place.

On the prestige boxset front, HBO Max will house iconic HBO Originals including ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Sex and the City’, ‘The Sopranos’, ‘The Wire’, ‘Girls’, ‘True Blood’, ‘Big Little Lies’, ‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘Veep’ and ‘Entourage’. Warner Bros. Television favourites ‘Friends’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will also be available, giving the platform a formidable back catalogue from day one.

New and upcoming HBO Originals will stream in line with US transmission, including ‘DTF St. Louis’, ‘Rooster’ and the third and final season of ‘The Comeback’. Returning heavy hitters such as ‘Euphoria’, ‘The White Lotus’, ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘House of the Dragon’ will also sit on the service, alongside the full boxset of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’. As previously announced, ‘The Pitt’ Seasons 1 and 2 will stream exclusively on HBO Max in the UK and Ireland.

It is worth noting that this does not mean everything instantly vanishes from Sky. As part of existing agreements, certain titles will continue to air directly on Sky alongside their availability on HBO Max. Series such as ‘DTF St. Louis’ and ‘Rooster’ will also broadcast on Sky, while major returning dramas, including ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘House of the Dragon’ will continue to air on Sky under the co-broadcast arrangement. HBO Max becomes the central streaming home, but Sky viewers will still see key tentpole series on their existing platform.

Documentary and unscripted content is also playing a major role in the launch slate. HBO Original documentary “Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man!” explores the life and career of the legendary writer, director and performer. “Armed Only With a Camera: The Life and Death of Brent Renaud” examines the work and final reporting mission of the American filmmaker killed while covering the war in Ukraine. Two-part true crime documentary “Murder in Glitterball City” investigates a dark case in Louisville, Kentucky, while brand-new four-part series “Boom Box: Beats and Betrayal” follows a London recording studio that becomes entangled in guns and gang loyalties.

Comedy fans are catered for too. The Emmy-winning travel series “Conan O’Brien Must Go” arrives with both Season 1 and Season 2 available at launch. “Neighbors”, a new HBO and A24 late-night series, explores real-life residential conflicts across the United States, diving into disputes over property lines, pets and even wardrobe choices.

International drama is another clear focus. Italian series “Portobello” dramatises the real-life scandal surrounding Italian TV host Enzo Tortora in the 1980s. French drama “The Seduction” reimagines “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” through the eyes of the Marquise de Merteuil. Mexican hit “Like Water for Chocolate” launches with both Season 1 and Season 2, blending romance, magical realism and family tradition.

The film library adds further weight, with titles including “Superman”, “One Battle After Another” and “A Minecraft Movie”, alongside the full “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Conjuring” collections. HBO Max will also exclusively house the “Harry Potter” and “Fantastic Beasts” film collections, giving the service immediate franchise appeal.

At launch, HBO Max will be available direct via hbomax.com. In the UK and Ireland, it will also be accessible via Sky and Prime Video, with a Basic with Ads tier available to Sky Stream and Sky Glass and Sky Q customers with Sky Ultimate TV, and via a NOW Entertainment & HBO Max bundle.

I do understand that. However sky have conveniently added other extra costs in the annual price rise as well. So I'm already paying £10 extra a month for just for skys annual increase nonsense. then with the extra £9 to get the same service with disney I already had.  It just feels like they've added the extra few quid on several parts of the contract to cover all this, and then i'm having to pay the £9 to get the same service I was.

So my monthly outgoing costs is more than it was with the old sky cost and then disney on top.

It's just frustrating that all these services cost so much extra for ad free.

You really are working it out all wrong in your mind. You'll be getting Disney+ for way less than you currently pay for it as you're only paying the difference between the free tier and your chosen tier.

HBO and Hayu, likewise, are completely free with the option to upgrade to a higher tier if you choose.

The only additional cost is the annual April price rise on standard Sky packages (which you agreed to when you took out the contract).

I completely get where @MrsJacko is coming from. It's nothing to do with working it out wrong. I said the same thing as @MrsJacko to my partner the other day. Whereas before I paid a one-off annual fee to Disney+, with this new Sky deal, it becomes a monthly payment on top of all the other monthly payments. I get there are savings to be made with the Sky deal, but looking at it from a monthly payment view, it seems as if we are paying more.

@Mr+Ripley My annual Disney+ renewed just before the increase last year at just under £130 that is still more than £108 (12 * £9)  so switching will be cheaper

hi @Bruschi123

As per many posts on this discussion, if you pay SKY or Disney+ you will not need to cancel your current subscription. there will be a mechanism to switch automatically- but exactly how has not yet been announced.

The date is not yet confirmed

@nigea99 Yes, I understand that savings can be made, I said as much in my post. The key part of my post is where I said " ... it seems as if we are paying more ". This is due to it now being a monthly payment vs an annual payment.

I think it may have been caught by the automatic filters.

It may get restored once reviewed (but unlikely to be before tomoorow sometime)

Not quite. Disney + is included some point in March ( there is no public confirmed date from Sky). Hayu is fully launched in June, with select content being made available from March.

Re: How to activate the free disney+ package when you have ultimate tv?

Shockingly poor communication from Sky on this.....Sky have communicated and advertised Disney+ being added 'From March'.....which most customers would assume means from 1st March! . Sort out your comms Sky!!
