Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
Better having the odd bit of lag via the Discovery app. compared to having to pay for yet another tv subscription .

Yes, I notice that WSB is live a 3 am on Saturday night. But are not repeating any full highlights later in the day. Only an hours highlights much later which has crammed 4 hours of racing into it.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
Last weekend I watched WRC Rally Sweden live on TNT Sport, spread over their 4 linear channels. Every stage from Thursday night to Sunday lunchtime was shown live.. This was many, many hours of coverage and I was able to record it all on my Sky HD box to watch as I like.
Next month is Safari Rally Kenya. It will be interesting to see if it gets shown on the linear channels or pushed onto Discovery+ or the red button, to accommodate new live programming from Eurosport.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
Does anyone know if it is feasible to use the multiple device allowance to help with this? ie find a cycling mate and share your sign in details with him and split the cost informally or does that not work anymore. I'm sure I read somewhere they had made it so the streams all needed to be used under the same roof......🤔

@stalwart1 please be aware the above discussed is prohibited on the forum and in breach of your tv subscription terms and conditions

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
Ok my apologies I didn't know that and is why I was asking. For Sky Go it does say everyone shoild live at the same address and if you live somewhere else you need your own account etc but for Discovery + I can't find any similar conditions unless i'm missing something.......

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
I was up at Midnight 15 to watch The Pratice session of the W.S.B. in Australia. on T.N.T. Sport 3. 8 minutes of an empty pit and then a switch to Round 6 of the 2024 Asan Grand Prix highlights. Looks like the former Eurosport coverage is just going to be bland world feed coverage from now on.

I note with interest that on Sunday the Snooker from China will be both Eurosport 2 andT.N.T. Sport 3. Let us see of the coverage is any different between the two channels.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
Apart from Eurosport I rarely watch much on Sky that isn't available free to air so with the new price increase and loss of Eurosport I called up yesterday to cancel my Sky TV. Have had sky for a very long time, probably over 20 years. I thought they would make me an offer to stay and they did, down from £55.50 to £39.50. Told them I would have to think about it. Called back today and now their best offer is £46.50! I said much too expensive so told them to cancel it. So goodbye Sky after all those years.
Seems they want to cut off their nose to spite their face as if I I paid anything it is easy money for them. I already have the kit, the sattelite signal is pumped out regardless so makes no sense to me to just let me go. Can spend the money on a Discovery+ subscription and still be better off.

We always advise that whenever you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back which unfortunately you found out the hard way.

The metrics of these companies are more complex than just "total money coming in". ARPU is, for a lot of decision makers in media companes, the most important metric and they would rather lose someone than have them drag that down - while you don't think you represent any cost, and a lot of the time that's true, in aggregate (as Hari Seldon taught us with Psychohistory 😉) every subscriber has a cost.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
Have had Sky dish since 1999. Eurosport is my most watched channel. Excellent picture. It says on this website satellite dishes might not last the decade so it's the end of an era

The dish will probably last, it's the actual satellites and their propulsion that won't. This topic has been discussed on different threads.
