No: it's an additional (and expensive) subscription, mostly because Warner Bros Discovery Inc really needs to get a return from its very considerable investment.

I note that the above is stopping soon.  I regularly watch these 2 channels.  Is Sky offering any deal to keep Eurosport for its customers?

@Atso

No. It's not Sky decision. I'll move your post to a thread discussing the closure.

It will be interesting to see if when it comes to The 2025 French open Grand Slam Tennis championships if T.N.T. will devote two of it*s liner channels to LIVE tennis as Eurosport 1 and 2 has over the last 15 years.

I would to apologize to the T.N.T. liner channels. In the first week after the close of the two Eurosport channels there is double Sking Ski-Jumping and Cycling [Both Men and Women  that you can record. So thank you T.N.T. Sport.

It's quite possible that WBD is using the UK and Ireland as a testbed for streaming uptake.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

Good news - think i've entioned a few times here in recent weeks that this was likley.

The press release a few weeks ago was pretty clear that they'd looked at schedules closely (presumably to check major event clashing), and were happy enough.   My reading of that (which is reasonable i think) was that a ggod portion of the regualrly broadcast ES 1/ 2 stuff will be linear broadcast on TNT 1-4, with the remainder on Disco+ Premium.

Is it all net net worse - yes, but the product / offerign iosnt going to be that much worse.  Its just the access cost that is the real change that is hard to accommodate.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

There is probably going to be a day when there is so much live sport on that they cannot show it all on the number of channels that they have at their disposal. I imagine the sports that will be prioritised will be the ones that they have paid the most for. So called minority sports will be squeezed out.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

Think thats right - but when it comes to WBD and merging ES into TNT Sports, the flagshiu events of "secodn tier" sports like cycling / tennis will still be broacast live on the linaer channels.   The Tour de France and the Australian / French Open tennis events will be broadcast live all day on one of TNT S 1-4, with a bit of parallel related content on the red button / streaming platform.   Thjey're simply not (even for second tier soirts like these) goign to be those sports trophy events only on streaming.

Why stick at two channels

It's highly likely that TNT Sports will make more use of streaming for their coverage and may well reduce their red button services.

The vast majority of their subscribers will have app access (Q and Stream/Glass subscribers massively outnumber Sky+HD, plus their BT customers have the app too), so that route will permit them to offer way more choice of content.
