Re: Changes to the TV Guide - February 2026

We're fast arriving at the point where Sky branded channels will just rename themselves to the current programme that's on. Wouldn't that be easier than all these constant 'temporary changes'!

These Sky Cinema constant rebrands are tedious , at least half the linear channels should be culled aswell.

Like a large number of people why not stop using the channels and move fully to On Demand, this way you have more control of YOUR schedule and channel names become irrelevant

I think we all agree and have been saying that for many years.

I have Sky Cinema and never visit the linear channels, unless a query of one of those channels comes up on here.

Not really sure why you would you really, as all content is in On demand and you miss out on better sound and UHD.

Must admit all that renaming just passes me by, so do not see the marketing point of it for Myself. But, maybe it still for many customers and returning customers to the different named channels still works for Sky as a subscription boost.

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - February 2026

I notice it because I come on here to see actual proper channel changes - but have to wade through endless (and pointless) Sky Cinema changes just to see what channel changes are coming up. Perhaps we could have a separate list for the inevitable Cinema changes, at the bottom of the main list - so they can be ignored.

I assume it keeps a highly-paid department of experts in work, solving tricky technical challenges like "What would be an appropriate name for a channel full of Harry Potter films?"

I'm not sure what temporarily changes means (for every Sky TV consumers, including Sky Glass [Generation 2]?

A temporary name is like "Sky Cinema Comedy" temporarily changing its name to "Sky Cinema Groundhog Day".

Sky Cinema Groundhog Day is a temporary name for Sky Cinema Comedy.

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - February 2026

Lest we forget that Sky One was rebranded, for some strange reason. And now it's being rebranded back to Sky One. Just in time for our annual "We're increasing the price of your services by X amount. This is so we can continue to invest in all the things you love and enjoy, like the Sports programming that you're not subscribed to but you'll still be paying towards anyway, and we're rebranding back to Sky One because we've got someone else in charge of the rebranding this year and thats what they said so we need some extra money for stationary and new graphics and what have you. Oh and don't forget, even though you're paying a monthly sub to us you can also pay more money to not have to watch adverts on some content. But just remember, believe in better. ".

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - February 2026

I'm not going to say it but my personal but passionate plea for Sky Cinema to bring back the old traditional rundown menu (and graphic menus as well) [not during the future rebrand but after the future rebrand] - albeit with the soon-to-be-rebranded graphics - that were held by the old Sky Movies from 2003 to 2008. I missed all of those one as a kid. I know it show four individual clips of each film to see what's coming on tomorrow, tonight, etc.

In addition to the rundown menus, would also love to see how Sky Cinema would also bring back its traditional trailers for films that were soon to be premiered or else promoting a season of films (e.g. Transformers). I remember First-Time Saturday strand on Sky Movies (which quietly ended in April 2007) for films premiering every Saturday and I would also love to see that to be brought back in the future where possible with a future TV premiere of Mercy (the recent 2026 sci-fi thriller film starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Furguson). I would suggest that it would coincide with a potential rebrand of Sky Cinema to match the upcoming ones used by Sky One. I know many people would miss the traditional stuff on Sky Cinema but if you look at TVArk or YouTube, you can see how things that were used to be before Sky Cinema came along in 2016 (ten years ago).

However, away from Sky Cinema, I would like to see 100% chance in rebranding Sky Sports and Sky News simultaneously if possible or otherwise six months from now.
