I have a Sky + HD box which is working fine. I have purchased another box (again Sky + HD) I'm not interested in Sky Q or Sky Glass! I need to be able to archive. Can I have two boxes active on the one account? I'm getting told different things, so accurate information would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

@Cluelessgal You can no longer add new boxes or new viewing cards to an existing active account but you can continue to use current boxes/viewing cards that are already active on the account

Re: Sky + HD
You would need a Multiscreen subscription in order to add a second box, and I'm afraid as Sky+ is a legacy/obsolete platform, Sky won't sell you one. If it's connected to your dish, the new box can be used to receive, but not record the free to air channels.

Re: Sky + HD
@SKY1992bf and @Mark39 Thank you! Haven't got this sussed yet. Think I posted, but didn't reply! Not sure what to do now. Was using second hand Humax box, but it deleted recordings and there was plenty of disc space. Nightmare! 🤕

Re: Sky + HD
@Cluelessgal If it's only the Free to Air channels (BBC, ITV etc) you want to record perhaps looking at a newer Freesat box might be an option?
43" Glass TV & Puck Whole Home

Samsung 75" 4K TV, Sky Glass Gen 2 55", Sky Stream, EE FTTC Broadband, Three 5G Broadband (Backup), Sony 7.1 AV Receiver, Technisat MultiSat receiver.

Re: Sky + HD
@GD1 Thanks for replying. The new Freesat boxes don't have the connections needed to back up onto another device, DVD recorder. That's why I purchased second hand, but two Humax boxes have deleted recordings now. There was plenty of space, so totally no faith in them. It's a show on ITV that I want to archive

Re: Sky + HD
@Cluelessgal I'm a bit confused as to why you need a second box in order to archive programmes on the box you've already got. Can you not just archive to DVD the programme you want to keep that's on your existing box? Or have I misunderstood?

Sky boxes are not sold for the purpose of archiving as this is against the copyright of the IP owners, Sky boxes allow timeshifitng of content that should only be stored for a short amount of time
