The strange thing is that only certain BBC programms are effected. Any suggestions as to why?
That presumably indicates the Series Link data is picking up and tuning to an SD broadcast, which won't be an issue after January 8th 2024 (although the Links themselves may well need deleting and recreating)

I have got a SKY+ box and HD is part of my subscribtion. I get the red banner when I record BBC even though I am using the TV remote to record and I am recording on BBC HD channel, eg 101. The only time that I sometimes do not get the red banner is when I haven't used series link.

The BBC are the one's putting the banner on and they only put it on the SD version. So, if you're seeing it on recordings then you are recording the SD version, intentionally or not.

The red banner simply doesn't appear on the HD channels.

I am definitely recording on HD channels I have checked. I have removed series links as suggested fingers crossed that will work.
The SKY technician has advised that if I get the message back to phone back and they will remove and then add again my HD subscribtion

BBC1 HD doesn't require the HD subscription so I don't see what that would achieve.

@oj01 I agree but that was the suggestion
I am viewing and recording on 101 which is the HD channel

If I understand you correctly you don't see the banner when watching - am I correct ?
Is the banner only on Series Linked programme recordings ? - If so I suggest you go into the scheduled section & remove all series links on them, then cancel the next recordings & then go back and reset them making sure you select from the current channel you watch that doesn't have the banner

you need the subscription to record

BBC HD does not need the HD add on - it is a Free To Air channel
(the only sub required to record is the Base package that you need to have SKY Q)

@oj01 I agree but the BBC message does say to contact Freesat or Sky to upgrade to HD which I already have
Oh on the live programmes that I have watched I have not had the message

When you record a BBC One program how do you set it, do you do it via your box or something like the Sky Go app ?

Yes it does.
One other thing to check btw
Which region are you in? Would also be curious to know if you set your box to record your local ITV news tomorrow, only 5 minutes btw, what you actually record?
Do you get the same region on 193 and 893? If you do we will not be able to answer thus at thus stage.
What happens if you RECIRD from 801 rather than 101? Do you still get the red banner then? Don't do it during Strictly as the red banner is not broadcast during Strictly, or breakfast at weekends, it BBC news simulcast ucernight it did not appear during Children in Need either incidentally.
Hope I have been able to help
