Hi All,
So this morning i changed from 4th Utility to another isp, instantly my sky stream worked.
My speeds have increased too.
I am afraid that 4th Utility do not have the technical support or potentially knowledge to fix this problem.
Thanks

Hi @dedmunds27,
Would be interested to know who you changed too. So I don't end up with another useless isp. Wish I'd spent more time looking into 4th utility. Never a good sign when you have to search for a phone number to log a call. Plenty of contact options for new customers!

Yeah, that seems to be a common issue alt-nets at the moment. A lot of them heavily invested at the start to grow their business but as the investment dries up they are tending to cut back costs by stopping further build out of their network and cutting customer support.

I started my contract with 4th utility so I'm in a contract I can't get out of .

I mean I started my contract in January so I can't get out of it .

I've sacked mine off, inadequate service they can try and get early termination fees from me but it won't happen.

I've logged a complaint, lets see if I get any feedback.
I'm also tied into a 2 year contract from Jan, so the cancelation charges are crazy.
As they are not providing a 'full' service that every other isp seems to be able too I think they should be waiving the cancellation charges.
It is also anoying that they are not shwong this as an issue in their service status page.
I wonder if this effects new customers?

Hi everyone,
Bought a new router and it works.
Kept 4th utility broadband, swapped out the router.
No need for bridge, connected new router straight to WAN, reconfigured router to match old router, everything now works a treat.

Good stuff @GeordieBoyIpswi. I'm on EE for my broadband, and I find their router is rubbish too (perhaps not as bad as 4th Utilities though, going by this thread) and found that everything including Sky worked better once I switched to an Eero router, also connected straight to WAN.

Can I ask which router did you buy so I can look into this option myself as neither Sky or 4th Utility want to help!

@GeordieBoyIpswi What router did you buy please ?

You actually have a point. I had to reset my Hotmail password after the recent crash and when they sent me the email to say a charge had 'been made, ignore this if it's you' it said that the IP address the change was made from was in the US.
I know it was definitely me and I'm definitely not in the US. So yeah, looks like it's 4th Utility's issue. Their servers are clearly still registered in the US. I just wish they'd sort it out! Can't be changing the network to my phone all the time!
