SKY Stream Novice
I signed up for SKY Stream 2 days ago. I got my box delivered yesterday. - All good,
I started the setup process which SKY says should take 'a few minutes.' About 2 hours later I had finally succeded. - No, I'm not thicker than most others.
What I found infuriating is that there are no simple 'how to use' instrctions with the equipment. You are left to fend for yourself using trial and error, or researching the internet, to try and find out what the various buttons are for and what features are available. There isn't even a simple booklet on the SKY website, (that I can find), to assist). - You have to search for information/instructions for each individual issue separately rather than it all being presented in one single space. Is it too much to expect SKY, with all the resources avaialable to them, to give some thought to this on behalf of customers like me who are technologically challenged?
Rant over. - Apologies

@JER4 Most retailers and manufacturers have help guides online rather than wasting valuable resources making paper documents, all info needed can be found here https://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-tv/sky-tv-stream/using-sky-stream

Re: SKY Stream Novice
Printed resources (and even website .pdf files) typically go out of date each time a firmware update makes a UI change, so platforms are naturally reluctant to provide them

Re: SKY Stream Novice
@JER4 What issues did you have that resulted in setup taking 2 hrs ... were the on-screen instructions unclear?

Re: SKY Stream Novice
If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the homepage,, just about Settings & Search there should be videos of 'Getting to know Sky Stream'
If they're not there, go into Help at the very bottom of the screen and they should be under the default Video Guides rail.
Could do with one or two of these auto-playing after setup to orient customers who might not be familiar with Stream/are coming from Sky Q.

Re: SKY Stream Novice
Plenty of official and user videos on YouTube walk you through the process too. Always worth a look.

Re: SKY Stream Novice
Thanks GD1 - Found them and reviewing them. - I still think it would be simpler to have one short manual covering the basic functions and how to use them.

Re: SKY Stream Novice
Thanks for replying. I accept what you say but, for the new technologically challenged user like me, I still think a short instruction booklet, either printed or with an online reference, would be helpful.

Thanks for replying.
First problem was getting the remote to connect. i even went so far as to change the batteries once I worked out how to remove the back. - A feat in itself.
Then when screen instructions appeared the puck would not respond to instructions from the remote. - I spent ages going backsards and forwards between the TV and the room where my computer is located trying to find out why, - Eventually things did respond and I could move forward but a simple task became frustrating and time consuming.

I found the sections you refer to but you first have to successfully complete the setup process before you can access them. Like you, I also think it would be better if they were auto-pesented at setup for the benefit of those who are not familiar with technology.

Having now had time to compose myself I have found, like yoi say, many references online to help the uninitiated,. - All good but what I needed at the time was a short quick reference manual to explain what the various controls did and how to use them.

What aspect of the onscreen instructions were unclear?
Setting up a computer is more complicated ... did you or someone else set up your computer?

I've always thought a little piece of paper in the box with the URL to the online Sky help documentation or the official Sky Youtube channel would be extremely useful for customers.
