Sorry, I wasn't sure where to post this.
I had my Sky Q installed today, upgrading from my old Sky HD box, there was noting wrong with, it was just Sky offered it to me.
Last week I downloaded the whole series of Canal Boat Diaries, series 5, the week before, series 4.
I just went to download series 5 again from yesterday, but it now says I need to upgrade my package to it.
We haven't changed anything on our subscription since last week.
I can watch the Yesterday channel.
Does all your subscription come on the card? as in, could they have messed it up somehow.
The only thing I could try, just to satisfy myself, is to connect my old box back up, and see if I can do it on that.
Any Ideas?
Thanks for any replies.....Just a ditty, I don't know who designed the whole menu system, but it's pants, far to long winded than it needs to be compared to the old Sky HD operating system.

BTW yes the UI can be quite a shock for people coming from SKY +/HD with a simplistic, tabular UI that just works. The graphical UI on SKY Q with more menus and thumbnails can seem overly complicated
Voice control is actually quite useful.
I find handy controls for recordings are :
Skip nn minutes
Go To nn minutes
Back nn minutes
You can use hours, minutes & seconds or mix e.g. Go to 1hour 15 minutes
Skip nn minutes is very handy for adverts and you get used to the length on regular used channels (Many are around the 4 minute mark)
You can also say Go To Start
As I say Voice control in general is very useful - see

P.S. A few words of caution :
The Recordings 'Continue' section is rather buggy and often can result in actions you don't want. I have found it can link to an episode that I have already watched and deleted or link to the next episode in a series before you have finished watching the current one
We thus strongly recommend using this section with great caution - I rarely use it
This slightly erratic behaviour can also be similar in the buttons above recording thumbnails & thus I recommend always scrolling down to the episode thumbnail you want to watch (an arrow pointing left indicates play) or the buttons below . (BTW An arrow pointing down in the thumbnail indicates download)

Yes, I did read about that much later on, a bit of bummer, as my two daughters were being intervied on the bbc as they (twins) came up with top marks in their school.
I have watched a few videos on pulling the stuff from the old drive, but because it's encrypted, it doesn't half take a few bit's of software to pull it off.

On the series I was trying to download Narrow Boat diaries, series 1 - 4, I could download as they were old, It worked fine on the new box' funny in that with my old box, when you did a search for them all, they came up on both the BBC and Yesterday tiles.
On the new box it only gives the Yesterday option when doing a search for the series.
Downloading them via the BBC option, I was able to download series 5 on the old box.
Series 5 has only just starting showing on Yesterday, which is why it says I need to upgrade to download it or just series record as and when they are broadcast.
But on the BBC/Tile option on the old box it was fine, obviously because it had already been shown.
If I could get to the BBC option, then I could download it, I'm sure
If any of that makes sense?

It is possible that at one time you could get S5 from BBC Catch up but on Iplayer (desktop version for my check) it currently only shows S1-4

Yes, that was my error in typing to fast, sorry about that.
I searched for it via voice, and then checked iPlayer, the same results as you.
I was just looking at the Facebook page for it, and the bloke from the series said thanks for watching series 5 on Yesterday.
Bit strange.
I'm not sure what package I would need to upgrade to, to allow me to download series five.
I wonder if you could do a huge favour for me?
If you search for the series Canal Boat Diaries. (Yesterday)
Go to series 4.
Select Episode 1 and click on 'All Formats.
Is there anything in yours, HD or SD options?
I have noting in that option at all.
If I select episode 2, 3 and 4, the options of HD, SD show.
If I choose either series One, Two or Three, and have a look, they are all fine, Episode 1 on all of them are fine. (show the options)
Do you think it might be a glitch if yours is the same?

I'm not infatuated with this program, it's just bugging me, as I am/was not sure if there might be a problem with either the card if your subscriptions are loaded onto that, or the card wasn't loaded correctly for want of a better word etc.

Yesterday HD On Demand
Yesterday HD Catch Up
Yesterday (SD) On Demand
Yesterday (SD) Catch Up
There's no reason why these shouldn't be available to you on your Sky Q Box. You would need to have the HD Pack to Download either of the HD versions.

Yes that's right. I have always been able to download them in SD.
It's been the same with other series which are being shown on TV, but I can't think of any to check.
So for example, and this is just a very rough example, it may not be in the right order, sort of thing.
Made up name of series called 'Flower'
Do a search, and it lists all episodes in each season of Flower,
Seasons 1 to 4 having already been shown.
I can only Download them in SD.
Season 5
Listed something like this.
Episode 1
Flower Thursday 9.30 HD
Flower Thursday 9.30
Flower HD
Flower
Flower Friday 17.30 HD
Flower Friday 17.30
As I say, that is very rough, and may not look exactly the same, but a rough idea.
Click on Thursday 9.30 HD: you need to upgrade to watch this.
Click on Thursday 9.30: It sets it to record on Thursday.
Flower HD: ‘You need to upgrade to watch this’.
Flower: Will download (There and then)
Flower Friday 17.30 HD: ‘you need to upgrade to watch this”
Flower Friday 17.30: sets it to record on Friday
As I say, very rough.
It doesn't show these options any longer.
As you say I should be able to download it.
Do you think I should ring them.... problem from the menu options you are given, nothing covers anything like this.
All you seem to get is billing....etc etc.

Edit - Although I have checked every episode of all series, all the episodes I have checked (incluing all S4) sgive me an option for all formats with both HD & SD
May I suggest you try again after a power down restart of your box:
Use the remote to place it into standby mode
Then remove the power to it (either switch off at mains or remove the power plug)
Wait at least 30s
Then re-apply the power & wait for it to fully restart - this may take a few minutes.

I think the issue @Negativepitch42 is having possibly relates to how Sky Q shows search results differently to Sky+HD box. I'm fairly sure that they don't have the HD Pack.
The hyperthetical example of 'Flower' above is pretty much exactly as Canal Boat Diaries shows on my Sky+HD box.

Yes although I didn't mention it specifically shows available in all formats - it is as @Negativepitch42 mentions available from Yesterday rather than the BBC
In the past there have been the odd bug with people being asked to upgrade to HD to watch or more often download when they do have the HD add on but to be able to know it is this & refer it we do really need specifics

I have Just spent just over 45 minutes trying to explain it to them, so I've asked for an engineer to sit in front of the TV so I can show him.
I do not subscripe to HD channels
Canal boats diaries seasons 1 to 4 is available on catch up in either HD or SD
Obviously, I can't download them in HD, BUT, I can and have downloaded 1 to 4 in SD, Which I have.
Season 5 is currently being shown on the yesterday channel 155 (episode 3, I think) in SD no other options.
Season 5 on catch up is available for you to download, each episode in either HD or SD
It won't let me download it in SD (as said, I don't subscribe to HD) It is saying I don't have the right package.
BUT: Last Wednesday on my old box (Sky HD+) I downloaded from the yesterday catchup channel series 1 to 5 in SD.
Then later in the day I thought I'm not going to watch the whole series having already seen 1 to 4 I would deltete them, but along with those I also delted series 5.
The following day (Thursday) I decided to re-download series 5 (in SD) which I did without any problems.
Come Yesterday (wednesday I had the SkyQ box.
I have come to download series 5 on yesterday catchup in SD (both HD and SD are given as formats, I don't subscribe to HD)
It now says I don't have the correct package.
Last week, Canal Boat Diares was being broadcast in SD.
It was available to download in SD on catchup.
I downloaded it TWICE in SD on catchup.
Yesterday (new box)
Canal Boat Diaries is being broadcast in SD, I am able to record that and series link.
Canal boat Diaries on Catchup is still available to download from catchup in SD (and HD)
I select the SD format. and try to download it, I can't becuase I don't have the right package.
What has changed in the time from Last Wednesday/Thursday untill Yesterday?
Nothing.
I have not altered any subscription.
The tech help says nothing has changed both in my subscription and the way it is on catchup.
I can *still currently download 1 to 4 in SD fine, Series 5 no...even though nothings changed in anyway backed up by tech help.
He then started going on about it could be because the program was only filmed in HD!!!!!

It's being broadcast real time in SD, I downloaded it last week in SD (catchup)...twice That has nothing to do with it?
Tech: I can give you HD for 4 months free of charge.
Me: I don't really want it. Just switch me to HD for the next 20 minutes, that's all I want, and I will prove to you I can't download it.
I eventually took the offer...guess what?.... I still can't download series 5, in either format.
I then asked for an engineer to call, so I can sit him in front of the TV and show him.
So I'm waiting for that July 4th.
