Technomate

I was using a technomate to distribute tv from sky q to other tvs, was working perfectly until recently, have a picture and sound but cannot operate the remote throught the eye. Can you help please? Thanks

@ORior if your Sky Q box id responding normally when you point the remote directly at it, rather than via the magic eye, then it's not a Sky issue. 

 

Typically magic eye faults are caused by poorly fitted connectors at the end of the coax cables. If all the distributed tvs are affected, I'd look at the connectors at the ends of the output cable from your Technomate. Beyond that Technomate support would be your best option

Hi, I have a picture and sound in the extra TVs but cannot change the channels etc. through  the magic eye.  I checked all the connections and even changed them but no good.  It just stopped working about a month ago.

It had been working perfectly got about 4 years before that, since I first purchased it.

@ORior  You need to reach out to the manufacturer.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Hi @ORior   Are you sure that you have Sky Q? The old "magic eyes" were used on Sky+HD boxes, using aerial leads that also provided picture and sound (low quality).

Hi all, thanks for all the suggestions which I have tried but to no avail. I also tried Technomate but they deal with trade only.  I may have to try/replace the cables or try something else.

@ORior  Searching for Technomate modulator faults / problems reveals quite a few customers reporting failures when their device was just out of the warranty period, including a few who also specifically reported I R problems, with absolutely no help being offered by Technomate to resolve their problems. One customer reported that they were now on their third modulator!

 

Alas, your unit might well have suffered from the same poor reliability problems.

 

Their website states that they are now supplying their latest sixth version of this device, which makes me wonder why they have had to change the design so often................

Yes, that is what I am using which worked OK for about 4 years with a Technomate modulator.  Just suddenly stopped.
