TV Essentials Package

If you were to cancel your Sky Signature subscription and opt to take the TV essentials package instead, which is basically freeview with a Q box, would you then be on a monthly rolling contract or would you be re-contracted for another 18 month's. Thanks.

All my opinions are my own.

Re: TV Essentials Package

I know several people who have this and it's a rolling monthly contract, price set for 12 months with no increases can be cancelled anytime.

Re: TV Essentials Package

Probably, as with everything with Sky, it varies depending on customer. I wonder if you're new to Sky and get TV Essentials with their BB it's the an 18 month contract. If you already have Sky and are downgrading package you can get rolling monthly. What you show on previous page is the link for new customers to get it with BB, on this thread they were asking about cancelling Signature and getting TV Essentials instead.

@Cooper+D  Might be worth giving sky a call for clarification as only they know the true answer

Re: TV Essentials Package

I was told yesterday by the Live Chat that TV Essentials is on a rolling contract at £15 per month.

Re: TV Essentials Package

I downgraded my Sky signature to Sky Essentials when I renewed my broadband. Got essentials for £5. Noticed yesterday that although my broadband contract was for 18 months, they've only given me the essentials package for 12 months, am currently paying £5, but it's increasing  to £15 soon.

Re: TV Essentials Package

The Essentials TV package always seems to be just for 12 months for some reason, even though BB is for the 18. Phone them and see if you can get the TV for £5 again, if not put in to cancel just the TV.

@Chalk+Serpent

I think that's because it started being offered during the pandemic as an emergency cost saving option rather than a 'normal' subscription.

Re: TV Essentials Package

I called Sky and they confirmed the £5 offer was on a rolling contract for 12 months. They were unable to extend it to coincide with my broadband contract.

I'll need to phone when it has 30 days left and give notice.

I think I'll probably buy a freesat box as want to keep my broadband options open.  I feel it very unlikely they'll extend my rolling contract at the £5 price.

Re: TV Essentials Package

When I took out my package last November which included essentials at £5 per month the person I spoke to said it was for 12 months but to phone up and get the offer renewed a month before it expired. She said the offer was nearly always on. If they won't agree to this I think I will say I will cancel as at £15 per month a new box would soon be paid for.

Re: TV Essentials Package

I phoned when my £5 deal was coming up an end and said I was cancelling due to it increasing to £15 and they extended it for another 12 months. My broadband is due to end in 6 months so don't know what will happen then as I may look for another ISP.
