Are you watching 101 live or is this a recording? HD is free for the terrestial channels at least (BBC1, ITV etc).

If you have been using legacy non-HD Sky+ hardware without a subscription to receive Free to Air satellite channels then moving to Sky Q is not 'free'.  Reception can be regained by acquiring a second-hand Sky+ HD box for about £30.

Going from a subscription on Sky+ to Sky Q might be achievable without an increased cost, but Sky will always try to upsell the bundle and/or charge a fee where they can.  This can typically be avoided by insisting upon no change in monthly payment and no up-front cost, but they won't like it.

Sky Q does not require the Sky HD add-on to watch BBC channels, no matter what a salesperson may say.

Re: Sky tv

@nigea99 @I have a sky q box. It is a message showing on 101 and 102 channels and the 801/802 ones don't work either. It just says my box does not support us and I should call for a free upgrade

 hi @Sophi

Many thanks

As the others have said you do not need to pay to upgrade to watch BBC.

Unfortunately a few people are having minor problems now that the BBC have changed all their services to HD & you are seeing the out of date SD services - the message contained was aimed at people with older boxes that do not support HD

Please may I suggest a full power down restart of your main SKY Q box :

Use the remote to place it into standby mode
Then remove the power to it (either switch off at mains or remove the power plug)
Wait at least 30s
Then re-apply the power & wait for it to fully restart - this may take a few minutes.

Let us know how you get on

Also worth checking which version of system software you have on your Q box
