Re: Sky box finding no internet connection at about 11.115 every ight

A speed tester, he knows is good and what he uses for work. But that doesn't matter, as everything else is working fine. As of now, my phone is using the Internet fine, as I'm on this site, and yet again, the apps, etc are saying no Internet connection, so what we were watching on Netflix, we can't. Still saying the same, it's connected to the broadband router, has an IP address, but apparently no Internet connection?!

Is it possible to use an ethernet cable to solve this?

A speed tester running on what? Because if it's on a modern phone it's almost certainly using 5GHz. As I said in my first response, it might not be affected in the same way as the Q's 2.4GHz connection. E.g. (this is not Q but discusses the principle)

Normally I would say this is just Q being its usual rubbish self with wifi and as above maybe recommend trying ethernet or powerline adapters, but the time aspect here points maybe in a different direction.

Maybe, but don't really want cables around  and shouldn't have to, as it was fine until a couple of weeks ago.

Earlier this evening I went onto My Sky and it said there was a technical issue and they knew about and were looking to fix it, when the apps etc were working fine and Internet connection was working? None of this makes any sense. We are paying over a thousand pounds a year, and tbh its not acceptable

On a laptop connected to the Internet at the time when Sky says no Internet connection.

Its not good enough really. We are paying over a thousand pounds a year for subscriptions and it shouldnt happen. If its not sorted, we decided we will be leaving Sky, which a shame as been with them for so many years and never had this before

You don't have to, no. The point is it would solve your issue easily and cheaply. £10 to £15 will get you a flat RJ45 LAN Ethernet Cable that is designed to slip under the edges of carpets or to be discreetly attached to the skirting. You can even get them in different colours to blend in.

Yes ok, but don't see why we have to do this now,  when a couple of weeks ago it was all fine.

Doesn't solve the problem why its happening suddenly, when nothing else has changed here.

My partner works remotely from home and no problems there other any other devices, just Sky and after 11pm at night

as I said it's very likelt all the other devices are using 5GHz

You could maybe test this by turning off that band on your wifi

Something has changed, and it's a local change because no-one else appears to be reporting the same issue.  Unfortunately that does inevitably make it very difficult to identify and resolve.

I guess you could insist on a Q hardware replacement to at least rule out one factor.

Try turning off 5Ghz on the laptop and see if it is still happy. If he's a telco engineer he might also have an app which can diagnose quality of wifi signal / dropped transmissions etc, that might give some clues. On 2.4GHz.

By the way you already said in the first post that you were going to bin sky unless someone "had any answers asap". No need to repeat that you will leave, or how much you pay. It's not going to affect whether we magically know the cause of your unusual problem and we all pay similar amounts so we know how much Sky costs.

Ok fine. Can't the see the need to have a go about what I've said about cost etc.

We are really frustrated with it all and if it comes across like that, then it does.

We have tried everything, to no avail, so thats it.

Will find another way to watch what we want.

Did you try the laptop with 5GHz switched off so that it was on the same band as the Q to see if it could pick up any wifi issues?
