Sky box finding no internet connection at about 11.115 every ight

Every night about 11.15pm our Sky Q box can't find the Internet, so we can't watch any apps etc after this time, even though it says it's connected to the router and can find the IP address. We keep trying to reconnect, putting in the password and it is having none of it! Everything else is finding the Internet, phones, laptop and PlayStation, but apparently the sky box can't. We have done everything it says, but to no avail. We are paying over £100 per month and now for the last couple of weeks, we don't have full access! Was all working fine, no problems and now this!

This is now taking the p. And we have had enough. 

Anyone have any answers please asap, or we will definitely be binning Sky!

Hi @Anet2711 Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on?

Have done that multiple times and doesn't do a thing I'm afraid

Sometimes, and this is rare, an electronic device on a timer like an immersion heater or something can cause interference that upsets wifi on a regular schedule.

 

if you're not on sky broadband you're using 2.4GHz wifi only and other devices are likely using 5GHz happily, plus Sky Q's wifi is twitchier than anything else.

Ok, but why has it never done that before then, why just suddenly start a couple of weeks ago? Doesn't make sense

Well whatever the cause is doesn't make sense on that basis. Something must have changed. How close are neighbours?

We are semi detached. But they are always in bed early, being elderly. They are normally in bed by 9ish

As @Chodley indicates, you're almost certainly looking for an individual and very local cause (probably involving wireless interference) generated by something with either an automatic time trigger or a habitual manual user.

 

Unfortunately that's also likely to be something which it's very difficult for Sky to identify and then do anything about.

 

In the past, badly shielded or failing electric motors have been noted as a culprit: hence the reference to an immersion heater.

I'd imagine that does raise the outside possibility that they have, for example, powered medical equipment of some kind or some other device on a timer circuit.

Nothing has changed here or around here in the last couple of weeks. My partner is a telecoms engineer, and has been for 30+ years, dealing with Internet also. 

The speed doesn't drop, he has also checked a majority of other reasons why and nothing.

All we have done in the last 2 months is renew our Internet with another provider, which was fine originally, no problems,  until a couple of weeks ago

The speed as measured how doesn't drop?

 

And that renewal didn't involve any hardware changes?

He checked the Internet speed throughout the day and evening and at that time incase it drops out, but no change, just usual fluctuations
