Just to add that the new Sky Sports+ streaming app is even worse than other apps - fast moving sport the pixelation and artefacts happen every minute or so and pretty much make the screen impossible to follow the action.

Same here! Just adding a +1. Been happening now for a couple of weeks at least.
On Prime Video and was also doing it on Discovery+ during Olympics on live streaming. I think perhaps BBC iPlayer too.
Clearly there is a Sky issue.

I don't think anyone in this thread disagrees, but Sky are aware and will no doubt post here when there is an update from their end.
Meanwhile, if you can, please use alternative devices/apps if available such as those built into a smart TV or Firestick, if you have them for the best experience.

I am experiencing the same issue with my SKYq Box. App streams pixelating, and Youtube completely stopping, black screen and reverting back to the Apps menu, this reverting I think occurs when an instream advert comes along and for some reason it reverts back to the Apps menu.
I never had this problem until about 6 months ago.
I do not have this problem when using my PC for these apps.
I have also reset the Sky Q box and the router many times to no avail.
I suggest something changed in the firmware to start users having this problem.
Do you have a timescale as to when this problem will have its investigation completed and a solution available?
Regards
Mark Venning.

Interesting, I will do this myself.

My first time posting anything but I have been experiencing the pixelating, minecraft looking programmes mainly in Prime. The past 2-3 days it has been extremely annoying. I dont watch tv much but as I had a few days off work; thought I would enjoy a few series. Day one was annoying, day two prime app kept crashing and day three it took me nearly 2 hours to watch a 30 min episode. This is day four and Prime is still acting up.
My kids said this has been going on intermittently for some time now, but failed to tell me about it. I guess they wanted me to feel their ?frustration?
I've just given up watching anything in Prime. Netflix freezes but what I want to watch is not in their catalogue.

Just wanted to join as having the same issues and looking forward to the solution

Hi both
I totally understand the frustration.
Unfortunately I don't have other ways of watching on my telly like some users do so I'm stuck with it
Paying so much money and not getting the services to allow us to access these apps and enjoy as they have offered as a service regardless of not owning them. Sky are still responsible for their end of being able to access these and view if they are advertised this way which they are.
But as it's been stated in some posts , they are aware , they are currently assessing but we are at the peril if their time scales which is awful but is what it is or I have to consider moving on , but then other providers are probably just as bad with things like this.
I really hope they sort soon , I do want to stay as I have been with them in total 15 plus years with a 1 year break whilst was training with the armed forces.

I'm having same issues. Spoke to Sky support no solution
Temporary pixelation using iplayer, prime and Netflix apps however TV channels ok
Image comes and goes randomly for few seconds pixelating, watchable but very annoying.
Please get this fixed Sky I'm paying for HD and worse than SD

I have the same issue for Prime and Disney Plus, Netflix okay. Waiting for an ETA for fix (fingers crossed soon).

Please add me to the long growing list.
I'm having the same issue, all playback via skyq apps pixelating, work fine on smart tv apps. Gone through all the steps to update skyq software, app software. I have Broadband speeds of over 100mb. Really annoying I pay too much for this shoddy service.

Same issue here. SkyQ, hardwired, GIGAFAST broadband with Sky. All apps have the pixel-smear/judder artefacts. Also getting signal dropout on the 2 Sky Q Minis which started at the same time as the pixel issues. TV apps all work as expected so I have a fallback at least but the mini-box issues is a major PITA as it happens intermittently around once a minute for about 5 seconds.
My contract is up so I'm giving it another 2 weeks then binning the lot.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWeirdly, my teenagers watched Taylor Swift on Disney+ last night (nearly 3 hours of it 😳), on the main Q box in 4K HDR without any of the recent issues.
This is what makes this stuff difficult to fix, it just isn't consistent.
