Can someone explain to me why, when I do a voice search for the film Thanksgiving, I get a huge amount of content for the NFL but no sign of the film? However, if I use the alphabet search method, the only hit I get is the film. It doesn't make sense. Tbh, it's not the only issue I've had with voice search recently & I do speak very clearly when I use it. Please see the 5 screenshots below.

No anomaly, it's because there were lots of Thanksgiving NFL games on in the US when you were searching.

So I guess I'm not the only one baffled by this. Really, hasn't anyone got an opinion about this or an idea why it's happened?

Thanks for your help with this. Oh, right, my mistake.

It says on this board that a reply will generally be given to a new discussion within 90 minutes. It is now about 4290 minutes since I started this discussion & yet nothing, nada, zilch. Why do I bother?

@MightyQuinn I know I can't force a reply, but what I found annoying is waiting 3 days for a reply whilst seeing all the other posts on the same board getting replies. Anyway, it seems to be a mystery so I guess I will have to let it go.

I asume it's still the case (based on this).
When Sky Q 1st launched the voice search used a different database (and logic I think) to that of the text search (I think the text search works on a database on the local box, where as the voice serach works on a database on a Sky server).
As such you can find huge dfferences between the 2 depending on what is searched for. We tend to use the text search as it just seems more reliable to us (and isn't much slower if you know the old texting layout of the remote).

@stereohaven Okay, fair enough, I did not realise that, so thanks for clearing that mystery up.

I think that's a good example of the difference between the 2.
I guess the voice search is doing a more natural language search and so has linked "thanksgiving" to the NFL games happening on Thanks Giving (similar to the Boxing Day premier league matches). Where as I guess the text search just does a straight search for the title/actors and so found the film.
Some people will prefer one over the other. We only use search to find what we know we want rather than something that we don't know that we want, hence the text search works perfectly for us.
