SKY Q MIni but have give bb password each time

Hi

Just got tv installed at brother's house and SkyQ mini in the room he has the main box in the sitting room 

But I have to enter my brother broadband password each time I log in to the tv 

 

Please advise why and what to do to stop this

Hi @Aayush2010 

Not sure if you are referring to the main Q box or the mini.

Minis need to connect by WPS to main Q box or Sky router if nearer and yo are on Sky broadband.

referring to mini Q box  as brother, not with sky bb his router in downstairs in the sitting room

Hi @Aayush2010 

Then you must connect the mini by WPS with the main Q box.

Carry out a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).

Failing all of the above you may need a Sky Q WiFi Booster to position midway between your main Q box and the mini and you will need to contact Sky directly.

thanks why is this issue as t additional box  nothing else 

but he not with Sky Bb Re Boster 

as it is a bit silly doing this each time need to watch sky plus if need to give box back it to late thus watch nextflix or prime on tv

Hi @Aayush2010 

Mini boxes do not connect by WiFi to non Sky Broadband .

They will only connect to a Sky Q main Q box or a Q WiFi Booster.

Have you tried to connect it to the main Q box by WPS exactly as explained in my earlier post?

If the box will not connect you can use a Q WiFi booster positioned between the main Q box and the mini.     You connect the main Q box to the Booster by WPS and then connect the mini to the Booster by WPS following a Network reset.

Sky will supply Q WiFi boosters free of charge to aid Sky Q connectivity.
You don't need to be on Sky Broadband to use a Q WiFi Booster.

 

MR 102 is a message that tells you the mini cannot connect to the main Q box.

Re the last reply now been advised need an engineer to come and see what the issue is and thus charge for the engineer to come  at weekend as i work uring the week 

when the brother who placed the order was advised not to need an engineer 

does anyone at sky know what they are talking about

Hi @Aayush2010 

Normally there is always the option to self install mini boxes.

However you have difficulties with the technical side then it is best to get an Engineer
