Re: Netflix Extra Member

So I have just spoken to Sky Customer services and have been assured that the Netflix Premium that I have through my sky package allows for the "extra accounts" so technically I can share my account with 2 extra accounts outside of my household. Do people not think this is correct?

@MickyBlue77 nope I don't think that is correct as both Sky and Netfix have stated that you are at present unable to add additional accounts at £4.99 per account when you are paying through a third party

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Re: Netflix Extra Member

Hold on a minute; am I missing something here?

AFAIK, Netflix allows the use of devices (iPhone, iPad, Android phones, Laptops) outside your house - is this to change now! They certainly won't be on the same IP as the domestic.

My understanding is that devices will be allowed out of the 'home' location for a period of time as long as they have been seen at 'home'.

Personally, my three 'young adults' will all be at uni next year but I still feel the financial burden and, for me, they are still members of my household (for now).

Possibly - it has been over various news feeds that Netflix are now starting to enforce the single Household & charge for sharing with other households , although there is no way to take out the option via 3rd parties such as SKY & Virgin.

I think it applies to 'Tvs' (which I think will include Firestcks) but not portable devices such as phones & tablets

I haven't read it it in detail but I suggest reading the link @TimmyBGood gave earlier in post #5

Nobody seems to have asked the obvious questions (to me)

1) Does this change count a a change to the contract that Sky provide, as they are no longer providing the service I pay them for.

2) whatever the case, if I remove the Netflix from Sky in order to add extra members, presumably I'd be entitled to that money back that would otherwise have been part of the package that how now changed.

On your second point, if you cancel the "Ultimate TV" add on Q you will be paying £7 a month less on your Sky sub.

One thing to remember if your Netflix account has been linked to your Sky account you have to contact Netflix to get them to unlink your account and before the 31 days  notice period ends for the "Ultimate TV" addon cancellation.

No: they've got confused with the number of concurrent Netflix app devices permitted by Premium (four) : those have to be at the same location (i.e. behind the same public IP address) apart from brief periods permitted for use while traveling away from home.

'Extra Members' is separate to this and legitimises permanent use at a different location for an additional cost of £4.99 per user: adding Extra Members is a function not currently available when the Netflix subscription is billed by another company.

Upgrade my Netflix account on sky to allow a second home.

I would like to upgrade my Netflix account on sky to allow a second home. I'm going in circles on this. On the sky help it tells me to change plan via Netflix..com but that's not an option and their support team tell me to do this in sky, but I can't see how.

@AMKe

As stated on the relevant Netflix Help page, subscriptions billed through third parties (Sky, Virgin, BT, TalkTalk) cannot currently have 'Extra members'.  Netflix support really should know this...

Re: Upgrade my Netflix account on sky to allow a second home.

Thank you. That then becomes a disadvantage of doing this through sky, you just some benefit for one household but if you want to legitimately support your kids who have left home or becomes cheaper not to do this through sky such seems like a backward step to integrated media streaming.

Thanks again

If your kids have left home (not for education) then they need to subscribe themselves, this is why Netflix are stopping password sharing

Re: Upgrade my Netflix account on sky to allow a second home.

We are not password sharing they have their own accounts, we are fully compliant and legal. However, if you subscribe to Netflix directly you can upgrade to include one or two other households, but you can't do this through sky, that's my point.

Thanks

As I noted above, it's not currently possible through any of the third party or 'inclusive' suppliers, so the restriction would appear to be at the Netflix end.

I assume their partners will be keen that this is addressed if possible, because it does make such bundles somewhat poorer value.

Re: Netflix Password Sharing / Adding Extra Member

Ok. So you can't add another member slot while my netflix account is associated/paid for through Sky.

What if I remove my netflix account from my Sky account, then log into my netflix account, add and pay for the new member slot then invite the member to link their account. Can I then go back into my Sky account and add my netflix account back in with the new member included?

If not, does that mean new or existing sky account holders cannot add their existing netflix to their account if they already have netflix with an extra member?
