I should have added that the socket also has a "FM/DAB" port (which has nothing plugged into it) and another aerial socket, which has my VCR plugged into it.
That's potentially significant: such sockets can contain hardware frequency filtering that the signal required by a Q box doesn't like but which are fine for Sky+/Sky+ HD and Freesat

Re: Lost TV Channels following Switch to SkyQ
Thanks. I'll see what the engineer says about that tomorrow. The other houses on this estate will have the same set up. My neighbours haven't mentioned a similar issue, although the Sky engineer mentioned that other houses a little further away that were built earlier had done. It seems odd that only some channels are affected (but I know nothing about fibre optic cable).
Thanks again everyone!

If it's a frequency filter issue then that might well only affect some channels (and the IRS thing is a red herring ; )
Sky installers on conventional satellite systems routinely remove such filtered faceplates where possible.

Re: Lost TV Channels following Switch to SkyQ
Typical setup when provided with an optical communal distribution.
Sky+HD / Freesat (Universal Legacy LNB format) Sky+HD / Freesat (Universal Legacy LNB format)
Sky Q receiver (SCR format) Sky Q receiver (SCR format)
NB the signal from a Fibre IRS dSCR GTU will pass through a filtered wall plate with no problems, and the Sky Q receiver will be required to be configured to use SCR LNB format.
Godfrey.

Many thanks for posting here & it seems you have answered a question that was going through my mind regarding the filtered paltes when set to SCR 🙂

The OFNL engineer attended this morning. Tried various things without success but then replaced my 8-year old Quad GTU with the latest model, reset the settings on my TV set and that seems to have solved the problem. Now getting a signal to all of the 16 channels I lost after the SkyQ box was installed. Fingers crossed.

Hope that has sorted everything for you.
