Hi everyone,
I am trying to get hold of a reconditioned sky box, how do i go about buying one ASAP? Because i recently moved houses and i have lost my the unit during transit. I understand you can buy a reconditioned one from sky directly, just wondering the price and how do i go about getting one as i am currently paying for the service without the actual box itself.
any help would be appreciated.
cheers in advance.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou cannot buy Sky Q boxes. All boxes are loaned whilst with an active subscription.
If you've 'lost' one then you'll have to contact Sky directly and pay the appropriate replacement charge.

You can't buy Sky Q boxes, reconditioned or otherwise. Q hardware is always loaned to customers for the duration of a TV service contract.
If you have lost your Q box then you'll need to contact Sky and request a replacement but there's a strong likelihood they'll charge you something for the lost box.

Thank you all..
Would another economical option such as ebay be viable for an identical unit if located))) up until the duration of the contract for a more cost effective way to get one. Essentially want to avoid any additional costs at the end of the contract by using anithet unit and found to be not the one they initially provided if it makes any sense.
cheers

Any Sky Q box sourced from anywhere other than Sky is essentially stolen property as Sky retain ownership of all their Q hardware. As soon as you try to use a box not originally provided to you, with your viewing card, the serial number of the box will be sent to Sky and they will know you are using the incorrect/stolen box.

I don't think you understand what is being posted, you can't BUY any Q boxes from any source.
Q boxes are all loaned to the customer by Sky, any for sale are in effect stolen property.

I understand loud and clear mate. Just didn't understand the logistics behind it. So just to clarify, it's an absolute must to buy from Sky directly is this correct?
cheers

You don't BUY them, they are loaned, you must obtain a replacement box from Sky.

Did you tell Sky you were moving by initiating a 'Home Move' through them?

Since the storm two weeks ago my sky box has not worked. The phone and broadband had to be replaced to. We are waiting for an engineer appointment - 4 weeks! still being charged. I have had a local company Ariel Force come in and they say the box is completely dead, despite trying everything. I want to get a replacement so when the engineer arrives he can at least get us up and running again. I have been on Sky Help, it is absolutely rubbish!
I have been with Sky over 30 years - what a terrible service if only I had another option.

The engineer will bring a replacement Sky Q box at the appointment time. Any you might see advertised elsewhere will be stolen property.
