Discovery plus saying need upgrade?

My discovery plus app is constantly saying I need to upgrade via Apple. 

I have activated and linked my sky account. 

I follow all instructions to sign in to discovery+ it tells me I'm "all set to start watching" then as soon as I select a programme I'm told to pay to upgrade. 

sky don't seem to want to help neither can discovery +!!

any advice please?!?!

No neither sky or D+ were any help at all both just blamed each other!
