Change from sky+ Multi room to sky q

At the moment I have sky + multi room with a second box in my sons bedroom and the main box in the lounge. If I go to sky q is it possible to have the main sky q box in my sons bedroom rather than where the main box is now in the lounge?
my main reason for this is the worry that he would have connection issues with a q mini box.

@Grandmandy  The main Q box has to have all the cables from the satellite dish connected to it so unless you can get those moved it's probably best to use the mini in the bedroom and leave the main box where it is

hi @Grandmandy

You may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

@Sky992bf   Just checking my current wiring, both boxes are wired externally direct from the dish. In fact the bedroom box is nearer to the dish than the main box. Would this mean I could therefore have the main Q box in the bedroom without any disruption to the wiring?

hi @Grandmandy

You can have the main box in either room but there are a couple things to bear in mind.

The main box needs to be able  to connect to your router (usually by wifi but could be via ethernet cable).

Only the main box is UHD capable

BTW I hope you have noted the mention I make in my notes regarding recordings being only stored on the main box & shared between boxes
