Can someone please help I'm trying to buy a extra sky mini box, I've tried the help option, I've tried contact us. I've done a online search the only place I can find to buy one is on ebay. Sky seems to make it very difficult to actually speak to someone either by phone or email. The sky bot is no use. Is there a email or contact number for customer service or a link to a online shop.
Thanks David

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou cannot buy Q boxes.
All Q hardware is loaned from Sky (and must be returned when you cancel your subscription)
Buying from eBay is essentially buying 'stolen' equipment.
You need to persevere in calling Sky to request one and pay the (non-returnable admin fee).

Sky loan you one sky Q main box and one Sky Q mini box any extra mini boxes you want you have to buy, we've brought two from sky years ago they were £99 each but I can't find the option any more. Thanks for your response.

Just to be clear you cannot buy any Q boxes. All are loaned and must be returned if you cancel your subscription.
If you want more or a replacement then you must call Sky.

I'm sorry you are wrong but at the time taking out sky Q Sky supplied you the main box and one mini box FREE OF CHARGE, IF YOU REQUIRED EXTRA MINI BOXES YOU HAD TO BUY THEM YOURSELF FROM SKY FOR £99 EACH they came with a 12 month guarantee they gave you the option to purchase sky cover for after the 12 months expired. The 2 TB Sky Q you can have 4 boxes and watch 2 at the same time. Do you have sky Q multi room how many mini boxes do you have and when did you take it out.

That's just not correct: while a fee may have been payable, it was not a purchase price. Q television hardware is and always has been loaned, as clearly stated in the Q Contract.
£49 was the fee for a Mini box by courier delivery, £99 was for a Sky installer to attend.

I've been with sky for over 25 years you will find sky only started loaning you equipment to be in line with Virgin and BT broadband. Originally the monthly fee was just for the service not the equipment because you had the option to take out sky cover for after the guarantee period expired on the equipment. How long have you been a sky customer

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@DC1964 Sky Q equipment has never be available to buy, they have always been loanded from day 1, I suggest reading the Terms & Conditipns you have agreed to taking ot sky q, it clearly states SkyQ equipment is loaned and all equipment must be returned if/when you cancel.
You have not bought any Sky Q equipment from Sky. I'm afraid you are incorrect in the assumption that you have.
I had Sky Q from when it 1st came out and it was made clear in the T & C's that all Q equipment is loaned regardless of how many devices you have.

For broadband equipment, yes, but Q television hardware was loaned from the start (early 2016)
I've been here a while, and believe me, this topic has come up once or twice before now...

The My Sky app tells me 20 years, with Sky+, Sky+ HD, Sky Q from 2016 and then Sky Glass from 2021

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWell over 20 years too - afaik all Q hardware was always loaned. But I'm sure Sky will clarify it for you.
Seen countless threads on here about this and never seen one to the contrary.

One confusion is that in rare early case the Q Hub (broadband router) was sold rather than loaned. This is not Q television hardware.

Yes, that was the case for analogue Sky, Sky digiboxes, Sky+ and Sky+ HD: that hardware was purchased from Sky, typically at a discounted rate. This business model changed fundamentally with the release of Sky Q.

Just spoke to sky at their customer service enquiring about a additional sky q mini box, response was you have to BUY the extra box they also they used the word PURCHASE. Even they don't understand the difference between purchase and loan. When they use the word buy or purchase that involves the transfer of ownership to the buyer from a legal point. Even sky does not know the difference between purchase or loan, I'll see when I ever terminate the account. Be interested in their response especially since I've got on record you have to buy the extra box.
