Re: Sky Mobile Ireland APN

I ported from Vodafone this evening with a Pixel 8a. I opted for eSim and asked to keep my number. Now the eSim is active but it has a new number and my old number is still active on Vodafone. That's one issue, the other is that I'm also getting this LTE stuff and my phone says I have the latest software so I don't know what else to do. If I can't resolve at least one of these things I'm just going to cancel the order before cooling off ends. Any advice welcome.

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland APN

Was that obtained outside of the usual process of checking for updates in the settings menu?

I spent hours on WhatsApp with support today. They had me repeating the same steps to reset the data connection that I've already followed dozens of times. The only steps I couldn't follow was setting MCC and MNC because I don't have fields for them in my apn settings, I also don't have any options to check VoLTE but I don't think this has anything to do with it anyway.

They asked me to load the Google homepage through my data connection and because it loaded instantly they claimed that means I have a 5G connection even though I obviously don't. I checked my down speed and the highest was 11.5Mbps.

As they ran out of ideas they said I would have to factory reset my phone which is brand new and definitely doesn't need it, it would also take me a whole day to restore apps, logins and backed up data for no reason. Then the agent's shift ended and the help centre closed.

It's like banging my head against the wall. I'm still in my cooling off period, so considering my options. It's not even about needing 5G, it's that it was promised and not provided. If we have to wait for Google to allow the connection then lord knows how long it will be.

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland APN

It really isn't worth the hassle and stress. Your time is worth far more than this. You are within your colling off period. Just move to a different operator, GoMo, 48, Lycamobile or whoever.

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland APN

Having input the connection details manually (I posted what I did a while back), it still connects and shows LTE... However speedtest.net shows that I get 110MBPS+ so all seems good. Faster than what I get from my broadband wifi

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland APN

Latest android update sorted it for me. Just as well because I was distracted by a house move and missed my cooling off window. Hopefully sorta it for others too!

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland APN

[content removed] Sky Mobile launched with this problem and ZERO support or acknowledgement of the issue. Will never go back to them. Cancelling TV and home Broadband with them.as soon as out of contract. They won't care but I do.
