Sadly it goes on and on with no action or a knowledgment from sky. So disappointing and TBH I've given up.
I just hope prospective and current customers are aware of this apathy from sky.

Can I firstly apologise sincerely for the length of time it has taken for us to be able to resolve this problem. Our support teams have advised that they believe this issue was resolved earlier today.

Just tested with 2 recipients and both received only 1 text so appears sorted, good news 😄😄

Yes, it seems to finally be fixed for me.
I've tested with wifi calling on and off, and with VoLTE calling on and off. Only one message was sent each time. 👍
